Hey, Andy I'm putting a friend's MC21 together. The oil injector pump shaft was missing, but he managed to get one along with a washer and o-ring (items 9 & 10 frame E14). I'm not sure how to assemble these. It seems to me that the shaft goes directly into the pump, and then the thrust washer and o-ring go on the other end to allow 2 stroke oil to lubricate the helical gears in the crankcase but not allow it to leak into the crankcase. But the only way to assemble it would be to mount the pump on the crankcase first and then install the clutch cover and mesh the helical gears as the water pump shaft slides into place. Is this correct? Or am I way off base?
The parts manual is a little misleading... sorry, I didn't translate that section!
Fit only the oil seal to the pump, making sure it's firmly pressed into place. Then slide the shaft into pump.
The thrust washer sits between the crank case and the pump shaft, and is basically there to stop the steel shaft from wearing the alloy casing. A bit crude, but it does the job.
You can remove/fit the oil pump with the engine casing/water pump drive in place. As the pump is lowered in to place, the drive gear will simply turn and mesh with the plastic water pump gear. _________________ Andy.

Hey Andy. having a little trouble grasping the concept here. The thrust washer is in place OK, but I'm having some bother with the o-ring. The only place I can see to put it in the pump is a tiny little chamfer in the very end of the hole for the shaft which won't actually hold the o-ring. I can put the o-ring on the shaft and push the shaft up so the o-ring goes in that little chamfer, but I don't see how that forms a seal or what keeps the o-ring from working down the shaft.
You've got me know! I had a quick glimpse at the diagram and then posted.
From memory, the only O-ring is the 20mm (ish) one that sits around the base of the oil pump housing. Then there is the seal on the pump shaft, and the thrust washer between the engine casing and the pump shaft.
I can't remember seeing the small O-ring, even on the latest casings/pump.
Can you post any pictures? _________________ Andy.

I couldn't figure out how to post pictures, so I emailed you directly. I get the feeling from your last reply that I'm still missing a part and the 8mm o-ring isn't the actual shaft seal. _________________ "4 bikes is not enough"
