One thing I've always wanted to do is improve the cooling on my bike. It runs OK and when "cruising" the temp is normal but in slow traffic (Thailand) when the ambient temperature is 33-35C it does start to get a bit flustered. I have an auxiliary cooling fan for such occasions but wonder if anyone ever made a larger capacity radiator for MC18.
MC21 rad has “wings” but is it larger capacity? IIf so may be possible to retro fit my 18 with a 21 rad but that would involve some FRP/GRP surgery. Has anyone had a custom rad built? _________________ If the rats eat my wiring one more time....
Yeah but your Pace radiator is fitted to a 21 with Tyga bodywork. Mine's a bog standard MC18 except for the obvious mods. So a copy of your Pace one may not fit without surgery. _________________ If the rats eat my wiring one more time....
You want an early RS one then Mike. The '87, '88 and (I think) '89 RS250 used a flat radiator. It was 1990 when they went curved. I think that would go in pretty easily.
It'll no doubt be easier to fit than to find though!! _________________ Andy.

You might be able to lose a few deg's by removing the termo'. I did this on my MC18 and '21F3 to help keep it cool for the odd track day. You need to make up a collor to replace the guts as in the HRC manual. Its not too hard, I just turned one up ou of some nice alloy. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
I knew I would be a long shot but ever the optimist...........
I'll persevere and see what surfaces. The thought of coughing up $1000 for a custom aluminium one grates when the bike only cost $1500. OK I've given P&M maye another 2 but still.
It's not the overall amount its the percentage if you know what I mean.
At least you've steered me in the right direction. Would fitting an RS rad get me any more poser points than the 26 I would get if I bought the shirt. _________________ If the rats eat my wiring one more time....

OK I'll check that out. Just that at less than 60kph in BKK traffic well.....and you probably know that BKK has some of the longest lights in the world. 3 mins idling at 34C is a short wait. It's not like driving around in Pattaya _________________ If the rats eat my wiring one more time....
I have a mc-21 radiator on my mc-18. I have Tyga body work but I think it would work with stock body work. What it really needs is a fan . I thought Matt was working on a kit for that a while back?? _________________
There's a guy on ebay in Poland that sells loads of 21SP and 3XV parts and he had an ealy RS rad a little while ago. Do a search for the usual NSR stuff and he normally comes up. If not, try 3XV. _________________ NSR300R - Why did i ever have a 250...

Matt put mine on because I asked for one, not really a "kit" just a small fan and some Ty-wraps with a manual switch on the fairing stay, maybe the prototype.
Ask him I'm sure he'd find you one. _________________ If the rats eat my wiring one more time....
Sticking a fan on the NSR is not a too tricky job. Just takes a bit of wiring etc.
I also fitted a fan to another 300 here in Thailand but this time on a 21.
Another way for the 21 would be to wire it into the GPS, so that the fan would be auto in say neutral, 1st & 2nd, and then switch off when you went into 3rd. Need to wire it up through a couple of relays though so that we could isolate the neutral wire to stop the neutral light coming on in the 1st & 2nd.
The 18 and 28 would have to be wired into the neutral wire on the GPS and then have a hard earth switch if you wanted it on any other time.
Maybe I should wire one into Paul's MC21 while he's not looking so that I can get an idea of how much it'll cost.
The fan I'd use isn't exactly huge, but it's better than nothing, and it's about as big as you can fit comfortably on the NSR rad.
As with the fibre under seat cover, let's see what sort of serious interest there is.
Oh Mike, give me a shout when you're in Pattaya and I'll try and fit this RS rad that I have here with me. I'm guessing that you'll have some excess cash that'd only be wasted on Singha beer and Vitamin V if I don't step in

Previous "intensive" testing suggests that the correct mix is about 25mg/2l. Anything more than that and the front end is too stiff although the rebound effect is OK.
OK I'll be over, not sure exactly when. I have to organise a container for the money from Brazil. I'll probably have to evict about 6 generations of rats out of the underseat wiring. _________________ If the rats eat my wiring one more time....
