G'day,
just found the forum while trying to find an answer to a problem I've found. Since I haven't found the answer though, thought I'd best just ask
Prepping my bike today getting ready to head to the track, I'm changing the transmission oil, but when I took the oil cap/dip stick out, oil overflowed out. Rather than looking like the Motul transoil I put in there though, it was tainted with my castrol tts 2t.
I've drained it & replaced it, but was hoping someone could tell me how it's getting in there in the first place. Am I due for a full rebuild? Or is it a little less serious? Any hints would be much appreciated.
It's the 2t oil pump seal, an easy fix, post about it here. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Thanks for the pointer. Pulled the oil pump out & just as promised there was the seal half way down the shaft. Now clearly that's fine when it's the open end of a condom, but in this case a little silicone gasket & I've tucked it back in place. Once the gasket's dry I understand I have to bleed the pump before I reassemble the lot?
The search feature & I aren't quite friends yet, so are there any tips for this? I saw mention of a bleed screw in the other post. Is this on the side of the pump that faces the centre of the bike. Is it simply a matter of opening the screw & rotating the shaft to pump some oil through?
