I think if you cut 4 holes in the lid as well as the Tyga mod you are over holed. Either 4 holes OR the Tyga mod will do. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
Is there a reason to modify the airbox as opposed to just installing pod filters? _________________ james

LOL at Mick and while it does look and sound good (for me at least) no airbox costs a horse or three right up to around 10,000 rpm and then makes a horse or two over what it would with an airbox.
However the agony that is removing and replacing the airbox which seems to take longer than the rest of the entire rejet process is the reason I seized my bike last autum. I just kept putting off jetting up again as it's so annoying to get the airbox back on, it got colder and colder, I just left it and paid the price.
Carbs off is no problem, the MJs are easy, the needles (on the '28 ) are a bit of a pain but that bloody airbox was the bane of my life, good ridance to it _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread

I'm the other way round! I thought the carbs were miles more of a pain than the airbox... _________________ NSR300R - Why did i ever have a 250...

Pretty much 1/2 the reason I binned mine. _________________ If you dont like the way that i ride.....Stop trying to keep up!!!!!
The main reason to keep the air box rather than junk it is it gives the engine a certain volume of still air to feed off. With the air box removed that still air supply is removed.
This is how the air box mod came around. As stock the 2 stock intakes restrict the inlet, once these have been enlarged by way of either the tyga mod or the 4 holes you have the benifit of a unrestricted lid and the volume of the air box for still air.
HRC never ran the carbs fully and always used the HRC air box Andy makes. This lets the carbs run open so they are in no way restricted but also provides still air for them to draw off. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
