my "beet" rearsets have anodised hanger plates, now that i've had them straightened at work i need to remove the anodising and get them cleaned up ready to be re-anodised.
does anyone know how to you go about doing it or do i have to pay someone to do it?
Urgh! Anodising! That can be a real pain to get off... especially when it's Honda's anodising on chassis parts! The only real way with that stuff is to sand it off with Wet'n'Dry sand-paper!
I'd imagine the Beet rear-sets will be a little easier, but think you'll still need the same course of action! Failing that, you'll need to find a local "metal finishers" (Yellow Pages time!) and see if you can get the rear-sets acid dipped.
Personally, I'd bite the bullet and get the Wet'n'Dry and Autosol out!

when i clean up my petrol cap i used nitromorse paint stripper that worked a treat then the autoslo made it nice and shiny
i assume the cap was anodised
I use that for de-coking the inside, and cleaning up the outside, of barrels!
The Ball & Chain wasn't so happy about it though... She had to go out and buy some more for the kitchen, and clean up the bathroom sink when I'd finished!! :D
Take note guys, that stuff is rather caustic, so it may damage the Nikosil bore lining if left in contact with it for too long!
Easyoff oven cleaner is the nastiest stuff know to man.
Don't let it near your frame or anything else that you want to keep in pristin condition. It strip the anodising off in a flash then start bubbling away at the aluminium.
Great for cleaning up old crusty cylinders and heads, but keep a bucket of soapy water on standby to neutralize it.
I spray it on, give at a fierce scrub with the wife's tooth brush then dunk it in the soapy stuff. repeating as many times as necessary to get the job done.
I found that leaving it on the ali part for anything longer than about 3 minutes turned the thing black. a quick scrub and rinse seemed to do the trick and kept the ali bright.
Pull out your RC valves and cover them in the oven cleaner in an old bowl. Leave overnight then easily scrape off the goo in the morning.
I tried spraying it on a knackered cylinder to see if it's attack the nikasil. No damage after half an hour or so, but don't take my word for it.
Oh yeah, it's also great if you're gonna do a bank job 'cos it'll strip ya fingerprints off and leave you smooth to the touch. WEAR GLOVES & GLASSES!!!!
What are you guys like Just because women happen to be very prepared and ready on hand with any Cleaning product known to man!!!!!!! We buy these thing because we know they will come in handy for those future moments when you need to strip off of anodising, did you not realise that
And if you have the product in your hand well there's plenty more to be done with it ,oven.........
