MC16 / MC18 fitting exhausts after rebuild

Tue Apr 24, 2007 11:26 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi,

I have rebuilt the MC16 engine with MC18 barrels - I'm trying to fit the exhausts, the gaskets seem too thick, and I can't get the pipes on the barrels Sad . I looked up the part numbers and they check out as the right part for the MC16 and the MC18.

The barrels are MC18, the pipes are standard MC16.

Has anyone experienced this??? Any advice?

Cheers, Mat.

16 pipes are really awkward to fit, their manifold ends seem to interlock inside each other when you fit them to the cylinders Confused and you need 3 pairs of hands Wink mabe try connecting them loosely at silencer end to take the weight and holding copper gaskets in place with a bit of grease or sommat,or get some 18 ones Wink

MC18 pipes are certainly the way to go on the MC16 Mat... or F3! Wink

Definately advise heavy use of copper grease to hold them in place whilst you tighten the bleeders up.
