NSR300

Mon May 14, 2007 9:15 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hello everyone,
I've just taken the plunge and bought my first nsr (MC21) which I hope to race at club meetings.I need all the edge I can get to reach the midfield pack so I'm very interested in the references to NSR300!!!
Is it really a 300cc NSR? What does it go like compared to a 250cc? Can I simply change barrels/cylinders?
Any help/info. will be greatfully received,
regards Will.

i was wandering this too, is it a nsr250 with nsr150 barrels. or nsr125 big bore barrels as the pins are biggere on the nsr125 but wouldnt need much to make a nsr250 pin fit in a 125 big bore piston

Ask the Tyga boys.

As far as I know they are modified NSR150 Barrels.

Although cheating isn't the answer. Wink

They're machined 150 barrels, that bolt right onto the 250 cases.

No point trying to race it that way though, since if caught you'd be thrown out instantly - and what's the point in cheating to win? Not winning at all is it?

Spend your money on suspension first, then training, and finally on the engine.

Oh, assuming you've de-restricted it of course! Wink

Racing an MC21 as a 300 isn't necessarily going to solve where you run in the pack, because if you race in a series that allows 300cc 2-strokes, then generally the bikes and riders you are up against are going to be bloody fast!

No 300 I've ever ridden has been as quick as a properly sorted 250.

As a (fast) road bike however, the 300 will be superb for the vast majority of riders. The main benefit of the kit is the fact you are getting all brand new components - some people don't like re-plated cylinders, and OEM Honda plating is the bollox! Smile

To say the 300 is built on machined 150SP barrels though is a little bit of an understatement. It is a very comprehensive kit, a lot of machining, and took a lot of (continuing) development.

My single piece of advise if you are seriously considering a 300 kit though, is to ask TYGA about a Wiseco piston option. Every kit is made to order, so you want it tailored to the pistons while it's all being machined up.

The NSR300 kit may help some guys go quicker, especially if they're not experienced enough to take advantage of a tuned, well sorted, 70hp+ 250cc. A high revving, high power 250cc can be tricky to ride is you're not in control of the power.

One of the advantages in the stock 300cc kit is the midrange grunt, which helps with gearing choice (not as critical perhaps). These characteristics are controlled mainly by the porting and head design.

The stock kit is great for the street rider thanks to it's driveability, but if you're a real two stroke fanatic (like Andy) then you probably need something a little extra.

I've just changed the spec on the kit I'm putting together now, to add a little more at the top. Basically because it annoys me that Andy doesn't like the standard kit and we can't have that now can we Wink This will now be the stock spec.

As pure as the best HRC could come up with anyway. Pah....what would they know? I don't trust them. They never give you the real stuff.

All that HRC rubbish I was gonna put on my bike I had to modify in some way or another to get it to work properly.

It's only that chip changing F3 PGM I've left as God Himself built it. Now, He does know what He's on about Cool

Yeah, but it's not necessarily going to be cheating is it?
Bemsee for one allow up to 400cc two strokes to race in their 400 class...
