MC16 Tank options

Sun Jul 08, 2007 11:30 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

So the tank on my MC16 is a bit rusted inside. Not sure if it can be fixed or how it can be fixed, but if not what other tank options are there?

from what I could find, an MC18 might work??? any other hondas?

here are some pics that I took with my camera phone of the inside

You can buy fuel tank sealant. It comes as a liquid rubber, which you pour into the tank, swirl about until the affected areas are covered, and then allow a day to set.

Where in the world are you?

bead blasting?

Mon Jul 09, 2007 5:16 pm » Post: #3 » Download Post

the sealant option sounds good, but i'm sure i've heard of bead blasting tanks at low pressure to remove rust in classic bikes. Does anyone know if this is true?

is that a mc16 tank?? dosent look like mine at all underneath and mine dosent have that pipe Confused

you can braze the hole area if you clean it up and then paint over it more perminant than the sealant and easy to do.
