So i know a MC21 makes 45ps std, and can make 60hp with bolt on hp like chambers airbox and derestriction
But i have never heard of any 1/4 mile times. In aust, its the most common way to test performance, but i have never seen a NSR at the drag strip
So does anyone have any times, and particular, mph, from taking their bike to the drag strip. And if you do, please list what mods the bike had at time of running _________________ Winning isn't everything, but loosing isn't anything
i dont know any times but i have seen down at santa pod drag strip a well looked after 21 dust a duke 748 with termignoni pipes over the first half of the 1/4
Drag strips are all about power, and a 250 two stroke is all about corner speed.
On standard gearing they'll be pretty rubbish at the strip, and if you modify it to be good at that, it'll not be very good for the thing it was designed to do - go round corners!
Drag strips are for Hyabusas... _________________ MC21SP Plaything

No it's not you Andy. Mine's the same. I seem to be slipping the clutch for ever if I want to get a scorting getaway from the lights, but when it finally hooks up it really does pick up it's skirt and skuttle away.
I keep threatening to take the 300 to the drag strip, but I've been there helping the chicken chaser boys, and when a 160cc stroker is putting in 10 sec 1/4's I'm a bit reluctant to give it a go in case I get my arse kicked
Think I'd be looking at sticking an MC28 box in there for a good jump off the line, then some serious tap dancing through the box.
I like the HRC box with 14/42 gearing. Gives a slightly longer 1st, but great mid-speed accelleration. Take off is then not a great deal different to stock, but it's awesome keeping it on the boil.
Not much good if you want to do any more than 120mph though. _________________ Andy.

Ok. Well besides lap time around your local track / mountain pass, is there any links, or other info regarding performance evaluation, like roll on 40 to 100 times ect
With the drag strip, ET isn't real important, its the MPH that i judge on. That gives a better representation of real world performance. Doesn't matter if you destroy the clutch off the line, or ease off, then open the taps, it will still run the same MPH
Only reason i ask, is because i want to compare to my bike to see if its on par with what it should be doing. It 'feels' ok, but that doesn't mean alot. _________________ Winning isn't everything, but loosing isn't anything

Why not? If it feels ok to you then does it matter what the numbers are?
Or are you trying to pose with your mates? _________________ MC21SP Plaything

Not really. I have a ball riding it. Just want to be sure im not kidding my self. I dont really have alot to compare it to besides zx-10s and CBR1000's.
I'll be dropping it off to have the chassis welded this week. After that (fingers crossed) it i'll be able to clock some k's on it, get onto a dyno and do some back to back testing.
What i want to do, is get a power figure. Then run it at the drags, and get some info on what it has std(with cans only) Then open the air box up, do the wire splice, re dyno it, and re run it and see what it has gained.
Whilst some people on here might not care for this type of testing, not all of us like going to the track, caining the bike lap after lap, and risking tossing it just to see if its 3ths faster. Plus my local circuit track is all about hp, and not alot of fun for 250's. _________________ Winning isn't everything, but loosing isn't anything
Or you could just try a dyno, and do all of your testing and see your power gains/losses in one morning...
Your nsr will probably do a 12.5-13 second 1/4 mile if you're good at launches. All miles and miles slower than any 600 or 1000 and makes not a blind bit of difference to how well the bike performs on the road or track.
A 40bhp standard mc28 can still lap faster with a moderately good rider around a twisty track than someone on a 150bhp fireblade, so 1/4 mile times don't really prove anything. _________________ NSR300R - Why did i ever have a 250...
