The large bolt (17mm head, about 3 inches long with 1 inch of thread) that goes just to the rear of the front sprocket does not appear to go in far enough to allow the flywheel/sprocket cover to go on. Is there meant to be anything hanging off here that I don't know of, can the biolt be sfely discarded or do I need to do something about the problem?
I did try to go through the parts manual before asking such a basic question, but I had no luck. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once...
that bolt is to hold the engine stopper link. You need that in place or can risk damage to the engine.
If you go go the parts manual and look at the frame assembly for any of the MC21 models, you will see the link you need there. it's part #50188-KV3-830 _________________ Charles Gallant
Thanks Charles. What would be the reason that it won't go in far enough then?
Edit: I checked where the bolt is going in with a better torch and the bolt doesn't seem to actually go anywhere. I'll try and get some better quality pics, but my cameraphone isn't very good.
Edit2: I feel a right plonker. The end that bolted in near the sprocket had swung down behind the frame and I couldn't see it. Thanks guys. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once...
you got it... the reason that bolt doesn't go in further is cause it needs that link there in place. Once it goes through that link, then it will be all good. _________________ Charles Gallant
I had the same thing happen to me. It resulted in the torque link rubbing against the chain _________________ Winning isn't everything, but loosing isn't anything
jeez, that has to be the worst picture i've ever seen. tip, don't ride the bike whilst taking a picture, definitely don't take pictures why you are couriering a bike to a track day and during an earthquake you should be under the table in the kitchen not taking pictures of nsrs.
