Hi, I am new here and new to NSR's in general. My 21 has MC18 loom and PGM and the carb's are all pretty stock, it seems. I have 140MJ's, Emulsions are clear, stock needles, 38SJ's and all the plumbing of the air hoses was in situ too. It just only pulls a bit on a part throttle, no more than 1/3 I'd imagine. Wound any harder and it feels like fuel starvation but I can't think it is, cos there is a fair bit of wetness in the airbox base after.

I do have NEW BR9ECM's in place and have cleaned everything spotless. Could it be the Air solenoids or PJ's? I don't know where to look for the PJ's anyway, checked according to the site and they passage seems to lead to the hoses on the upper bodies of the carbs.

Oh, have also adjusted the AS to stock.

Help, just sold my 2002 R1 for a commuter and bought the NSR for jollies but all I am having is sadness.

Plugs are wet but I think I may have isolated my prob. Get the impression the oil pump is over eager. Burn't the pipe's & Expansions prior to starting it up and had a very very oily mess on the tips of the pipes at the end of my little ride.

Not quite as easy as all that.

You say it's a 21, but running 18 harness and PGM. What about the flywheel? 18 or 21? The 18 flywheel is slightly less advanced than the 21.

You also don't mention the spec of the bike. If your airbox is stock then 140 mains are probably too big. I just jetted a 21 running slightly batterered Endurance Racing pipes but with stock airbox and 130's were right on the money. I'd already set it up with modified airbox and 142 mains but the guy didn't like the sound (go figure! ) so I put it back to stock.

You might also want to take a look at the condition of your reeds.

Another thing to check, the plumbing from carb to air solenoids has a white plastic 3 way joint that plugs into a filter on the underside of the airbox. If this filter is clogged then the thing will get strangled and will only rev up to about 8K. Seen this many times on airboxes that have been cleaned in soapy water, which then saturates the paper filter inside so it can't breathe. Just unplug the three way joint from this filter and run again to eliminate this.

Thanx for the assistance, It seems a set of 128MJ's and actually routing the air-solenoid pipe's has solved the most of my problem's. Especially thank you for the tip on the clear 3-way.

If I do have the 21's fly-wheel and all the other electric's are 18, how would this affect the system? I have the stock airbox in place and the reeds are old but seem pretty decent.

Would removing the airbox, (It is a track toy), affect the bottom-end significantly? I'm pretty adventurous and if it goes BOOM, I have an excuse to rebuild it anyway. What would you start with as a base for mains & other settings with a stock bike with only the airbox removed, bell-mouths in place with stock tied over. Environment would be sea-level and average temp of 25 Deg Celcius.

Finally, sorry for all the questions, would a 15wt Oil be overkill for an 85 kilo framed Lard-arse. The springs are stock and no one in South Africa has a replacement for me. I was contemplating machining a pre-load spacer but don't know if it would be worth the 20min of my life to turn them.
