MC16 troubles

Fri Oct 05, 2007 8:06 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi all, continuing with the rebuild of my mc16 today i got her started up, after a few minutes warm up i started to rev the bike. it back fired a couple of times then stopped. checked the fuel o.k. checked all the fuses in the fuse box o.k.
Are there any other fuses anywhere that might stop the engine firing? i've checked for a spark but there is'nt one.The nuetral light on the dash does'nt light up anymore is this just a coincidence or is it related to the problem. Just when things seemed to be going so well!!any help much appreciated.Brian

Hi Brian
Has the 16 got a side stand switch ? If so ,you might want to move the gear lever to get the neutral light on again as tha bike will not run in gear or with out the light on with the side stand down.Or just run try it with the stand up.
If they don't have a side stand switch then ignore my ramblings.

Relax men!!after fumbling around it was a loose connection from the stator to the wiring loom, Phew thank god for that, i hate a electrical gremlins. She's got the carbon cans on from swarbrick racing onto the standard expansion chambers, what a lovely sound. Once again thanks men, you give me the confidence to carry on. Brian
