So Cal Ride

Mon Oct 15, 2007 5:47 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

As mentioned a couple weeks ago I'm in So Cal this week and wanted to get together for a ride or two. I'm putting the bike back together today. Tuesday and Thursday looks best for me, but Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday are not out of the question. would really like to do Angeles Crest hwy on Tuesday. How does that look for everybody?

So Anyway, I survived California Superbike School. I'm rustier than I thought I was. I had a big problem with body position. I was afraid the NSR wouldn't survive. I thought it was going lean at high RPM so I backed off at 9k and held it there. Then some girl that used to race 2-strokes told me I was real rich and NSRs always feel like that on top end; she also said NSRs are virtually bulletproof and not to worry about it. So I went for broke and the NSR held up fine. The NSR is a real blast to ride. It can be tossed around and thrashed with virtually no effort. Keep in mind this is the first time I have really ridden this bike and its not sorted at all. The jetting is off and we still have not been able to find the correct rear spring for it.

Hi j911,
What day did you do CSS? I was there Saturday cornerworking and doing some lapping on my nc35. I saw a Rothmans nsr in a pickup with a Bostrom rep looking duc and wondered who's it was.

Streets is fun on an nsr fo sho. If I can get my mc28 put back together i would be up for a ride but would have to be the weekend due to my job. Keep us posted . . . would be cool to get a group ride together.

I was there both days. I talked with you about your NC35 in front of the trailer. I mentioned I wanted an NC30. Those were my bikes in the back of the truck. I rode them on Sunday. Yes, the NSR was a blast. I would get outrun on the straights, but pass the guys again in the corners. They bitched at me several times for dragging the pegs through the corners.

Friday is a tougher day for people to get out for a ride because of work. There usually isn't a great deal of traffic on Saturday up on the Crest other than bikes.

If you can do Saturday let me know and we can post it on the NSR list as well. Seems more local boys are there.

Thought that might have been you at CSS. I could do the Crest on Saturday and its pretty close to me. Maybe ride up to Newcombs Ranch if its not too foggy/cold up there.

Apexxn-do you mean posting it on this list or is there another NSR list I don't know about? Laughing Cheers.

Ok James Saturday is good.

Brian, I posted it on the NSR250 micapeak list.

Yea that's what I was thinking ride up to Newcombs check out some bikes and see what the weather looks like as far as riding higher.

I just called Joel. He's working in the morning hours but if anything he said he could meet us after depending on what time the ride takes place.

Yeah, get Joel to get that purty Rothmans out. I could go anytime if Joel can't go til later. Not sure I'll have the mc28 together anyway but if not I'll ride something else. Think I might have had a very soft seize at Buttonwillow so need to test ride it first.
