NSR300 rebuild help

Wed Mar 26, 2008 11:53 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

after screwing my bottom end on the nsr (300cc)

i brought a m18 bottm end and swapped over everything and is now in..

(new pistons, rings, gaskets, cyclinder clean, pins, need rollers etc etc)

put over my sprocket, oil pump, water pump outlet, linked chain.

questions (please!!!)

motor was dry, now is wet clutch, can i use same clutch cable ?
and the clutch leaver under block has little (pull back)
to return the cable back, lol

reeds and vaccum pack things that sit above them, do i need to swap them over too?

is there ANY LINKS TO PICTURES OF ENGINES< without fairing, for reference to where the parts go after,

i forgot some mounting spots, please help thanks guys

THE 300 LIVES AGAIN! Very Happy

Swap the clutches over. It's not a massive job.

Gearbox breather hose by the looks. Exits with the other breather/overflow pipes under the right peg on the 28.

I would have stuck a new crank in it if it was me.

You gonna do anything about the crank??? i notice you don't have anything listed. That's prolly gonna be you weak link with the 300 kit. Especially if its an older high mileage mc 18 bottom end.

guys....

inbetween the gear selector and clutch leaver... there is a plug that goes into
the mc21 block that has sevral wires on it, removing it, you can see it has a o-ring on it, and at the end has small shaft with a key type thing at the end...

on new mc18 block, this plug has nowhere togo as it doesnt obviously fit this unit..

what is it.. do i need it?, engine runs without it...

thanks guys

p.s its a low-milege mc18,

It's the GPS (Gear Position Sensor)

Wire it to be set for one gear only...3rd is probably the best safe medium. The MC18 doesn't have a GPS.

Just join them using the wire splice guide but with out the sensor so it thinks it's in 3rd.
Only problem I can see it it will always think it's in gear and never show neutral.
