No Spark

Sat May 10, 2008 6:20 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I have a MC21 that has no spark. Bike has been stood a while & is hopefully going to be used on a trackday in a fortnight. Nice new battery, clean carbs, fresh petrol..........Ignition on no spark.
Very hot PGM quick ignition OFFFFFF.
Any ideas before I go mad!!

Didn't ask what was coming out, I asked what was going in!

How free to rotate are your power valves? They get clogged and that is the most common cause of blown PGM's. You should be able to rotate them freely by hand, even with the pulley and gubbins still attached.

If you can't, then you need to remove them and clean them before you run the bike again. Easy enough to do, just remember the nut on the pulley is felt hand thread... Wink

The power valves turn freely when the cables are of etc. The cables seem tight so I will take them off & lube them. When you turn the ignition on should the powervalve motor reset like it does on my RGV & TZR?
