Hi, will MC18 bodywork fit an MC16. The 16 I'm interested in has a single piece race unit which look identical to the one in this pic (but a different colour) http://poser.nsr-world.com/poser/html/bill.htm

The rest of the bodywork is standard apart from paint. Would a Tyga kit for fit?

Also how are these restricted? Is it the same way as the 18 as I can't find a guide for the 16.

Hello Carl, and welcome to NSR-WORLD.COM!

A MC18 Mk1 (R2J/R4J) seat unit should fit without too much trouble, as the subframes are very similar. You may find it easier to find a Mk1 subframe though, so the MC18 seat will fit right up.

The Mk1 lowers are all but identical to the MC16, but the uppers are different... a little sleaker, and with the dinky headlight. The MC16 uses a much larger/heavier "frame" that both the instruments and top fairing are bolted too, which will need to be replaced or heavily modified if you want to use an MC18 nose fairing.

The MC16 isn't restricted, and unless you use HRC parts it's never going to make much more than 50~55hp. The best bet is to source some MC18 barrels, carbs, and exhaust pipes. That should see power up to around 60hp (from 45hp).

Thanks Andy. This is the kit I was thinking of buying. It's for the 18 but includes the frame for holding the fairings that you mention. Do you think that would fit?

I think it should fit without too much hassle, but like most things, you'll just have to take the gamble and jiggle it all around a bit if necessary. The MC16 and MC18 Mk1 subframes are very similar (one is a little narrower than the other if I remember correctly), and the fairing lowers are the same, so it's going to be close.

Thanks Andy. I think I will go with the bike after a proper look over it. I think its an ex race bike and the owner said he has had 110 out of it and it was still going. £750 sound about right?

Difficult to say without seeing it. £750 in my opinion is top Dollar for an MC16 unless it is mint and original, or something very very special.*

It's not immaculate but runs OK. It's standard apart form the seat unit. The pipes are high level as well do I presume these are off an MC18 but I don't think the bloke knows this though. Sounds a bit overpriced then.

What price for a:
17000km (10000 mile)
Single seat unit
Not original colours
Maybe MC18 exhausts
Started first kick and ran fine (not had a ride yet though)
Corrosion and scrapes wise everything was in good condition but could do with a good proper wash
Knackered back tyre
