After new tyres, plugs, air filter, a freshly rebuilt set of 21 forks and all the road gear removed it was doing fine and out dragging VFR400's for fun.
Then during the second session entering Hizzies the front brakes felt a touch spongy but where stopping the bike ok so carried on at full pace.
Approaching Druids at 95mph I grabbed the front brake and there was nothing there at all, the lever just went straight back to the bars.
There then followed much trying to avoid other bikes whilst standing on the rear brake trying to scrub some speed off.
I ended up riding into the gravel at 60+ and knew I wasnt going to stop it before the armco so laid it down. After a bit of gravel, sky, gravel, sky I eventually stopped thankfully without a bike on top of me as it stopped about 3 foot behind me.
Result.
Completely shagged top fairing, knackered helmet and in true gp style a broken little finger.
Once the bike was back in the paddock the lever came back.
I can only assume that the brake fluid had absorbed too much water and the water had boiled causing air in the system which once condensed again was ok.
Tips for the day.
1. When you buy a bike that's not turned a wheel for 3 years change ALL the fluids.
2. Always buy the best helmet you can afford. _________________ If you dont like the way that i ride.....Stop trying to keep up!!!!!
hi mick glad your ok mate and your not having much luck with the bike are you and peaple are going to start thinking im trying to bump you off did you sort the dodgy valves out or run as it was? _________________ ive seen more tarts than mr kipling
Glad you're OK Mick. Sounds like the motor was happy enough?
As I say in the Tuning secion, the braking system is without doubt the single most important system on the bike. We all joke about engine performance, high corner speed, and out-riding bigger bikes, but we all have to stop sometime!
Shameless plug... drop me a line for some stainless steel replacements for those dodgy old OEM brake lines Mick! _________________ Andy.

You learn by your mistakes. Thankfully it wasnt as bad as it could have been.
And Si I left the PV's wired open and it pulled really well above 9k.
The only real issue is that the gap between 1st and second is 4000 revs so it was a bit of a pain coming out of slow corners.
I either had to over rev in 1st or slip the clutch in 2nd as there's no power whatsoever under 8. _________________ If you dont like the way that i ride.....Stop trying to keep up!!!!!
Well it certainly makes a change to siezing an NSR!
Actually, we don't often hear about folk crashing theirs, has anyone else crashed their NSR rather than blown it up? _________________ MC21SP Plaything
