Fitting HRC reeds, spacers and stuffers

Sat Aug 02, 2008 12:17 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi all. I know it's pretty straight forward but i've just got my HRC reeds, spacers and stuffers.
Any fitting tips?
Also do the spacers only fit one way? Will it be obvious once stripped?
Pictures would be good also. Smile

Just make sure you use a new gasket.

Ensure you remove the inlet manifold bolts evenly and while the motor is cold, as the manifold can distort. Torquw the bolts down as evenly as you can, just like you would a cylinder head.

It's obvious how the parts fit when you take it all apart. No need for pictures! Rectifiers are a direct replacement, as are the reeds. Spacers are just 1mm strips of alloy, and fit between the reeds and stopper plates.

Ah so the stopper plates are refitted on top of the spacers. Just as well i asked then as i was thinking you would leave the stopper plates out maybe. Don't know why i thought that would be right: Embarassed
Ordered new gasket as well. Smile

On some reed types the stopper plates are replaced by a small plate like the spacer (Boyseens I think), so an easy enough misunderstanding.

Unless you read "HRC reeds, spacers and stuffers" to mean HRC reeds, spacers and stuffers!
