Squires Cafe & VJMC Show Lotherton Hall

Mon Jul 28, 2008 8:22 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Dave (bd197) and myself took our NSRs to the VJMC Lotherton Hall Show (Sherburn near Leeds) on Sunday. A fine day and some really nice bikes. Got the feeling the VJMC judges were 4T fans, as they won all the awards (bar a placing for a Fizzie). Plenty of 2Ts on show. Loads of extremely tidy RD's, a couple of mint RG500's and Rothmans NS400R's, not to mention 2 certain NSRs Wink Finished the day with a short run to Squires Cafe, one of the largest bike meets in the North. A local guy (Richard from Selby) turned up on a very tidy MC16, so we pulled his bike into the 'Group shot' as well Cool. Reckon we need some NSR-World.Com screen stickers Andy, to properly fly the forum flag 'Up North' Laughing

Saw your two bikes at the show. Very nice, they seemed to be getting plenty of attention. It was me that put a little Diff'rent Strokers card on 'em, along with some of the other cool 2-strokes that were there.

I won't say on here what bike I went on... Embarassed

I got your 'calling card'!! Thanks. Pity we didn't see you, it would have been good to have a bit of banter. Maybe try to arrange a meet up at Squire's one of these days???

MCN

Mon Aug 18, 2008 7:09 am » Post: #7 » Download Post

After working overseas, I'm just catching up on a few missed issues of MCN.

They covered the VJMC Lotherton Hall Show, writing 'A Rothmans liveried Aprillia RS250 was a crowd puller' Rolling Eyes Oh dear MCN, but highly ammusing Laughing

Wouldn't mind, but I even stuck a note on the windsrceen, explaining to those unfamiliar with NSRs, exactly what they were looking at.

Ah, seeing piccies of Squires really makes me miss the North. The fabulous roads; the really hardcore bikenuts that you only seem to get up there; The Helmsely TT Shocked; The mad racing at Oliver's Mount in Scarborough etc. It all just seems a bit tamer down here really (in the South West) and the roads are nowhere near as good (poor visibility in most places as the roads tend to be lower than the surrounding fields, wheras 'oop north' it's the other way round generally).

I must say though that it's a bit warmer generally down here (though it looks great in the pic's - the bikes do too BTW Very Happy), which makes all-year riding more comfortable. But it's done nothing but rain this summer it seems Sad , and statistically the North East is far, far drier than the South West. Don't get me wrong: living in the South West certainly has some charms, bit biking is definitely second best down here for me Sad .

Enjoy it all you lucky b*ggers, and have a pint of Tetleys for me next time you are in Squires Wink

I'm only over in Bradford and often call in to Squires after a run. Message me if you fancy a ride out. Maybe we could even get a bit of a northern thing going.
Breakfast in Bridlington is a fantastic early Sunday ride over the Wolds, and a tea at Surburn to say bye.
If we could trust the weather it could save this 'summer' of ours.
Anyone up for it.

WB, Oiliver's Mount racing was always a fave, but haven't had chance to go for a couple of seasons. Always watched at the 'jump' for some mental action. Plus the ride to Scarboro' from Leeds, over the Wolds is awesome. But the Police now have unmarked Hyabusas patrolling (and recording) those routes, which are (were?) probably some of the best biking roads in the country. Helmsley TT is also legendary.

Manny Fagnet, we should arrange a meet up + ride out from Squires with bd197 (Dave). You have a MC21 300 in Campsa colours, don't you? Anyone one else in Yorks or Manc area? I'm overseas again from 30/8 to 20/9, I'll bet our summer finally arrives then when I can't do any biking Sad

A few other ideas we are throwing around - Northern Area dyno day, xmas piss up + curry. Look out for a posting by Fenton.....

July 25th / 26th 2009

Thu May 14, 2009 3:19 pm » Post: #12 » Download Post

The VJMC Show at Lotherton Hall is on Sun 26th July. Some guys from Diffrent Strokers & RD Forum are planning a 2 Strokes Meet at the nearby Squires Cafe on the Saturday.

This clashes with the DP meeting at Cadwell, unfortunately!

Could be Cadwell on Saturday & Lotherton Hall on Sunday for me, what a great weekend that would be!!
