I've just bought a F3. I am about 10 minutes from the gas arriving and will give it a blast.
No kick start and rock hard slicks with monsoon rain; should be an interesting push start.
All very exciting!
Everone has probably seen the pics already; bought it from Maximum on this forum.
Well, the first attempts totally failed. Pushed and pushed and it wouldn't fire. Gave up and went for beer instead.
Today tried again and it fired on the stand just by turning the rear wheel. This time I turned the fuel on
The F3 engine is incredible. 72hp feels twice 62hp. Even felt quicker than my blade; probably not though.
Only one small problem; front end is not aligned. Hope its just the forks twisted in the triples. No big deal anyway.
Once I get the higher octane gas I will take it to the track. Can only buy 95 locally and that is getting difficult. Only have 100 inserts for the vhm heads on two other bikes as well.
Having ridden Stephen Alee F3 MC21 on several occasions, I can only agree with you Dave. Probobly the best road bike ever built. The motor is monster and sooooooo grunty with a healthy top end rush as well. Steve even had trouble keeping up with me when he was riding his factory kitted RC45! Well up to 100mph at least.
With more power than my RS250 (74bhp) and running on pump gas it is the only way to go. Shame they are so rare......guess that's what makes em so sweet!
You are lucky if you are in the UK; pump gas is good. Over here in dreary Thailand, you struggle to find anything over 91.
Until I find who is hoarding all the 18 F3 top end parts, I don't want to disturb it to see what I should be running on. I will therefore just have to find avgas.
Where do I find top end parts; I heard a rumour, somebody on here has loads.

I'd go right to the top................ Mr Grant???? Any F3 goodies in that car boot of yours???
Nope... no F3 parts in the HRC boot at the moment.
I've got four MC18 F3 barrels/heads/pistons, and two MC16 F3 barrels/heads/pistons, but they are in the HRC cupboard!
I do also have some F3 frames and swingarms and an HRC transmission with full options in the HRC cupboard, plus a couple of sets of F3 carbs and an HRC steering damper in the HRC airing cupboard
Most of it open to offers*, including one MC21 F3 frame, but none of it's cheap!
* None of the MC16 F3 parts are for sale! _________________ Andy.

BTW I've never seen a real F3 bike so pics would be super cool. _________________ Andre E. Benguerel

There isn't an F3 MC28. F3 ran until 1992, when it changed to SS/SP racing. The last "real" HRC parts for public consumption were made in 1992. They were mainly only a handful of updated 1991 parts really though.
HRC had some "special" parts (notably a different PGM-IV, frame, and apparently a swingarm) for their own MC28's, but the HRC parts sold to the public are totally different. The frame/swingarm/PGM-IV and some other bits'n'bobs were never sold. They never even made expansion chambers for the MC28! The best MC28 HRC parts are the jet kit, the airbox, and the radiator! _________________ Andy.

The HRC 28 swinger looks (at first measure) to be the same as stock. Haven't weighed it against stock yet though, but it does look ok in it's raw alloy state. Paul wants it but as they say, possession is 9/10ths of the law and all that.
The HRC frame was possibly a modified 21 frame. The one we had had the extra seat lugs welded on and then machined. The steering lock hole in the headstock was also machined in, not cast. Didn't have the huge headstock of the real F3 HRC 21 frame though.
Might have to make some offers; especially the 'HRC airing cupboard', don't have one of them.
