attempted to place an order with Cissbury Leathers on Oct.8th(this year)through their Website. The transaction seemed to fail at the checkout stage,so I rang and made the order next day, explaining the problem with the Website order.I was assured that this happens sometimes with on-line ordering, and all was o.k.Subsequently,it transpires that my credit card had been debited with the on-line order, and also with the telephone order.I contacted the company who assured me that the amount would be refunded to my account.I was also told that the item I had ordered was not in stock and would be despached as soon as it was available,I took the company's word on this.Up 'till now I have e-mailed,and rang Cissbury Leathers at least ten times to resolve these issues, non refund of my money, and non appearance of my goods. So last week, having been told that my refund had been dealt with-not true-and the goods were still not in stock,I requested, verbally, and by e-mail,to cancel the transaction, and all monies be refunded.I again was assured that that would be sorted.Up until today my credit card account has not been credited with a refund (400euro).So people beware of this firm,if this is how they deal with customers.I had thought it was a reputable company,but.....
Call your credit card company. They should sort it for you under "Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974":
75. — (1) If the debtor under a debtor-creditor-supplier agreement falling within section 12(b) or (c) has, in relation to a transaction financed by the agreement, any claim against the supplier in respect of a misrepresentation or breach of contract, he shall have a like claim against the creditor, who, with the supplier, shall accordingly be jointly and severally liable to the debtor.
It basically means that for any credit card purchase (between £100 and £30,000), the credit card company is equally as liable as the supplier.
I have got my c/c provider involved now.I have used this firm before and had no issues, but this is beyond any terms&conditions quoted on their site.Just beware of this company!
I was under the impression they'd stopped trading. I bought some kevlar lined jeans for my brother off Ebay - direct from them. Turns out they didn't fit, but when I tried to contact them their site said they'd stopped trading...
