PJ's on a MC28?

Wed Jan 14, 2009 6:47 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

So now that I have discovered I ruined my TB10A carbs I am contemplating installing a spare set of PJ's I have from my RS. What about the TPS though? How do you include that in the system.

I would imagine most PJ carbs are installed on a MC18 or 21?

You need keep the TPS connected to the harness but not the carbs.

Full open does not give best power. You need a little dyno tiem and keep adjusting the TPS position untill you get the best/smoothest power. You cna then either make a little bracket to hold it in that postion or dab a little super glue on it.

Mine has a dot of resin in it to hold it in position. Seems to work fine and gives good power curve.

As a side note, if considering buying new carbs, go for PWK's. You can not only get one with a T.P.S. but also get them with an idle circuit.

Yes idling is a problem, especially on the ride....tend to look a bit of a tit at the traffic lights reving it up so it doesnt stall. They are very loud and the smell of Avgas and no lights or indicators doesnt help things either Twisted Evil

I tell you what you want. You need a bar mounted lever going to the TPS, that way you could tune the TPS as you ride.

Even better, it could go hand in hand with a bar mounted lever that pulls the oil pump on too. Think of the fun. It would be like riding 1950's BSA's again!
