Is this conversion possible? It would give me a 17 inch rear but i also love the shape of the 21 arm.
Come to think of it i'll rephrase that question as anything can be made to fit with enough money and the right tools. question should read "is this an easy conversion?"
I've seen it done on an R5K and an MC16. NSR.Wayne reported it needed modified link plates when he tried it on one of his MC18's, but didn't have time to experiment*. I would think you can probably do it with a mix'n'match of stock MC18 and MC21 parts though.
17" MC21 wheels will slot straight into an MC18 swingarm though, so you don't need to change it just to run a different wheel.

As Steve says, I too like the classic look of the MC18.
I`ve got a white rear MC21 wheel I was going to put on the classified section for £50 soon. It needs a paint or powdercoat job doing really though.
Cheers for the reply guys and i understand what your saying about the classic lines. I suppose the 18 is rarer than the 21 and i should keep the overall look. Chester, i'll take that wheel off your hands.Drop me a pm.
If you go the 17" route you will then need to adjust the ride hight which can be done with a set of home made linkage plates. The template for teh HRC ones is in the workshop tech section.
The Mc18 is already relaxed as stock so it does improve it quite a bit. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
You'd have a much better chance of getting an NSR one to fit. At least it's the right width and the shock mount's in the right place to start with! _________________ Andy.
