Some of you guys must have these forks and be a little heavy. What would be the normal weight of oil and level be, for say 100Kg. Is there anything else I should order to change at the same time, internal wise.

The problem with all the NSR stuff is it's valved for a rider often about 1/2 the weight of your average westerner! I've found increasing the oil weight to 12.5w is a good starting point, but a thicker oil makes the valving less efficient, so you can't really effectively go to 15w. You can also increase the oil level a little, but the ideal solution is to have the forks revalved.
I ran 1990 RS RWU forks (the ones with the additional compression adjustment) on my MC21 with 12.5w oil and it was fantastic, although they are shorter than NSR forks and new geometry scrubbed the front tyres out really quickly. The adjustment had to be pretty much MAX on everything though, as I was 96~97kg then.
I run 1991 RS250 USD forks now and surprisingly they don't need any internal modification (for my capabilities anyway). Even the adjustment is backed right off, and could probably go a little softer still, although I do like a firm ride! (Oo-er! ) I now only weigh 87~88kg too. Losing best part of 10kg made a significant difference... to a lot of things! _________________ Andy.

On my F3/RS forks I removed the brass rebound damping adjuster from the fork top (It's quite easy to do) and turned the taper down 1.5 degs.
This gave it much finer controller. You can also then adjust, when rebuilding them, the range you want the adjuster to work in. I set mine so from fully seated to fully off I had a maximum of 12 clicks on each adjuster.
It's not as good a set up as the '90 or '91 forks Andy has but does the job more than well enough for me. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
When I finally get home, I have a few sets of forks to work on and I had no information on the F3 ones.
I myself have gone from 103Kg to about 96 in 2 weeks and I hope to be at my fighting weight of 92 in the next 2 or 3 weeks. This was not because of performance and suspension; last time home, I couldn't zip up my leathers and I'll be buggered if I have to buy new ones.
