Am currently driving a NSR-R 250 1993 MC21
am having this scare that my bike is about to give up soon..
I've cleaned the carb (Jets cleaned and new gaskets) new engine oil
crankshft cleaned new gaskets installed new water pump.
After a few drive.. SOMEHOW.. when i change from 1st to 2nd gear
and freewheelling while slowing down.. i hear a click sound somewhere on the shifter did i do something wrong? what does this mean?
Have you looked at the chain above the gearbox sprocket area?
There is a minor bracket / brace that should attach to the rear engine mount shaft. But if not attached, it will hang down onto the chain, just above the swingarm pivot, and make a clicking sound as the chain rubs against it. I know from experience And it was only when free-wheeling you can hear it. _________________ Rich

thanks guys i will recheck the chain tonight.. also have another problem.. i was fooling around the carb last night. i felt like the bike was not receiving enough fuel so i think that my float wasn't placed right. after opening carb
and adjusting the floats/pins tried to start the engine it wounld't start.
Checked the spark plugs and it was soak with oil and gas. after awhile changed the spark plugs it started but am lossing rpm turned the air high
one turn rpm went from 900rpm to 3000rpm.. so i tried to make it exact on 2000rpm.
I test ride it and it felt that there is no power at all..(like choak was on or worst)

This is an important bracket!
It`s the torque arm that stops the rubber mounted engine from twisting under power.
I think Matt said he had a clicking/clunking noise coming from Pauls bike which he traced to this arm having worn bushes. So, even if it is in place. If it has worn bushes it can cause a noise.
ok checked out the bike last night.. still have the clicking sound when freewhiling on 1st or 2nd gear.
i drove it again and turns out like this.
Very low torque and runs only 7000rpm at full trottle.
Clicking sound still there when freewhiling without clutching.
up hill runs at 10kmph @ full trottle on 1st gear.
Getting really fustrated with this.. can anyone give me a solution please!
sorry guys, poor choice of words using 'minor'. well corrected. _________________ Rich

Sorry Rich, I didn`t mean to sound like the strict school teacher!
NSR_hongkong, When you stripped the top end, did you remove the gearbox? If so, it could be that there is a circlip or thrust washer missing?
Is the gear lever action stiff? It is easy to get the selector drum spring trapped between the circular cassette gearbox mounting plate and the crankcase. This makes the gearbox hard to shift.
Check out the workshop section to adjust the carbs. Just set the floats to standard. 13mm from gasket face to bottom of float when the float tab is lightly seated against the valve if I remember correctly?
It sounds like you have flooded the engine or set the float level too high. Assuming you haven`t changed anything else?
