Hello!

Upgrading your MC16 to a MC21 is going to be rather tricky. The MC16 and '21 are two very different NSR's.

If you want more power from your '16 search the forum as it has been covered before but the basics are..

MC18/21 top end
MC18/21 carbs
MC18 Mk1 electrics if you must (the MC16 set up though isnt all that bad).

I'm afraid CBR600 vs NSR MC16 fight will go in favour of the CBR 90% of the time.

Hello Vatar, and welcome to our first member in Egypt!

I'm afraid your options are rather limited with the MC16, as the crankcase design is slightly different to the other NSR's. While you could fit a dry clutch to it, it's not a simple bolt-one as it is with all the other models.

As StephenRC45 says, you can fit later barrels/heads, carbs, and with a little work, MC18 expansion chambers, and all these will give a performance increase, but it will never quite be as good as an MC18/MC21. You can fit an MC18/MC21 motor into the MC16 frame, but again it's not a straightforward bolt-in job.

Please search the forum as the differences and options have been covered a lot before.

another thing I want to know
nsr 250 specification says that
mc16 have Maximum Power: 45PS @ 9500 rpm
mc28 have Maximum Power: 40PS @ 9000 rpm
that means mc 16 more powerfull than mc 28?

Mod edit: all posts modded for spelling

Hi and welcome!

Firstly please don't use TXT speak (i.e please type "to" not "2") as it's very confusing for some people who don't speak English that well.

Secondly, yes, in stock form an mc16 is no less powerful than any other NSR and more powerful than an mc28.

The 45bhp limit was a Japanese law, it was reduced to 40bhp in 1993 hence the mc28 is 40bhp.

The "problem" is, on the mc18 mc21 and '28 the engine is electronically restricted to 45 (or 40) bhp, on the mc16 45bhp is the power the engine makes.

The mc18 and mc21 are very easy to get 60bhp from with just a couple of wiring modifications. The mc28 is somewhat harder but it can be done without touching the engine.
The mc16 requires the carbs, barrels and heads from another model, mc18, 21 or even 28 though the '28 carbs are a pain to work on.

In theory the top speed of any standard NSR is 113 mph (185kmh) which once again was a Japanese legal limit.
If you get the power to to around 60bhp you could see 125-130mph, maybe slightly higher f you're small enough to tuck in behind the screen properly, most westerners aren't
