Can any of you suggest a VERY good way to have the swingarm and the fram cleaned? The MC21 I have has a bit of a dirty frame and swingarm and it's doing my head in as to how I should clean it. I sent the frame and swinger for dry ice blasting which cleaned up all the baked on oil and grease and what have you but it still stays foul looking all it is now is oil free, but still stained so it's just not good enough I'm not keen on leaving it that way so I'm looking for a better way to clean these parts so that they look new new new...
Acid bath? Micro blasting? Any ideas? Please lads, I look forward to your comments...thank you ))
Well, no...not polish. I don't want the non shiny parts to suddenly be made shiny. I just want the embedded or what seems to be embedded dirt and oil to come out so that the frame and swinger look new...Anodizing is probably the only way to make the Aluminium look new, or what?
Anodizing is probably the best then...
What's the thickness that anodizing adds to metal? _________________ Grr, boyo....500cc bi-stroker. Heaven awaits
i think the anodizingis your besty option . I don' think it adds to the thickness , i may be wrong . It affects the particles inside the alluminium and the colour sits inbetween the particles .
I had a frame anodised , it was cheapish , you need to polish out scratches etc first .
I found that a good way to clean the frame/swingarm was to use rags and kerosene. Since there was a lot of tar on the swing arm the kero happily dissolved it. It looks awesome now
