Before i go off and try and buy a new one, does anyone have a petrol tap for an MC21 they are willing to sell, one that doesnt leak please... i have one of those already.
I am actually looking for a new one as well (tired of the leaky used kind )
Here is what I am thinking about doing, if anyone has any knoweledge about this, please chime in
From looking at parts fiche's, the early 90's CBR900RR's have a VERY close looking petcock to the NSR. The knob is a little different, but hey, I don't need that, as well as it's a seperate part#.
So I am thinking about buyinng a new 93 Honda CBR900RR fuel petcock, and trying that out.
I have taken one of mine appart, and tried to "fix" it with creating a new seal, but that pretty much lasted only a weekend. Now it's back to pissing fuel all over the place, so I don't think I am going to spend the time doing the other one.
Okay, just ordered one... While have the definitive answer on Friday (hopefully).
They look pretty much the same (with the exception of the turn knob), so I am thinking it will be good. Flow rate? Guess well see how they are, but anything is better then fuel dumping all over the engine.
If it for a MC21 ? you can use this stock Honda USA part number #16950-mw0-790. I don't know what it fits but it worked on my MC21, just have too shorten the brass tube too match yours stock MC21 so reserve will work. Look exactly like a NSR MC21 petcock. _________________
Why on earth would I pay VAT for anything? I am in no way going to support some over taxed country after the founders of my country had to kick that other countries ass over just that same problem
Or the short answer, cause I'm in the US, and we no have NSR parts at our local dealer
As for stephen? Could be they didn't have an NSR part in stock, so the next best thing is the CBR900RR part. _________________ Charles Gallant
Okay, so I got the CBR900RR petcock, and it is the part # listed above (16950-MWO-790). Looks exactly the same except for the reserve tube, and filter. But that's a direct swap with the NSR parts (as stated above).
So stephen, when you get your part, it will work just fine.
Also, a little trick. You can pull the reserve tube out, and just use the filter (basically doing away with reserve). Of course for street use this may not be a good idea, but for track use, its a pretty good idea. Keep the filter in place when you do this.
