Just did this a couple weeks ago. Take the unit's face off the back to get a better angle at the cases, and simple cut the speedo off using a rotory tool (Dremel type tool). Put the cut face back onto the tach (that has been cut away from the speedo), and put the unit back onto the bike.
You can use an MC18 rev counter and temp guage as long as you also have the MC18 sub harness for it. You can then unplug the 21 wiring and plug in 18 stiff into the rev conter. As for the temp guage, unscrew the 3 wires going to the back of it and fix them to the 18 guage. They both work the same. This way you have a nice neat and much better (like the 18 all round really) set of clocks. Hope that helps _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
What Stephen has done is how the job is outlined in the MC21 HRC manual. He'll be wanting points for that in Posers' World no doubt, once the '21 is finished! _________________ Andy.

Being odd, I removed the gubbins from my tacho and built a new housing for it! Fitted a temp guage I had lying around and bingo, race clocks! _________________ MC21SP Plaything
