Hi, eveyone. i have a same problem as last time thread posted on 03/08/2010, but this time round it not a broken wire.
Here what happen;
As i put in the CD-card (Card Key) there's nothing, no light, no red and yellow LED light, nothing, like there no supply to the system.
I have the battery fully charge with a reading of 12.3 VDC.
All the fuse have check and it good.
I have a clear voltage reading at card in switch (R/B) same as the battery. When card is out, i believe i should have the same voltage reading at (R/blu) when the card is in, but it not. Believe something maybe wrong with the switch, how can i go about fixing it?
Trace the wires from the switch round to the back of the PGM, you can just unplug the switch itself and connect the wires from the loom togeather. Then the switch is effectively always switched on.
Be careful, if the live side of the switch wiring touches earth it instantly blows a fuse and you can't leave it like that if it does work as the battery will run flat. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread

Do you mean just joint the two wire (R/B) and (R/blu) together will do? But anyway to fix the switch other then sending it down to workshop? They will just ask me to buy a new one with everything.
Yeah, the two wires that run from the switch and meet the loom round the back of the PGM, they've even got the right plugs on to push them togeather, that takes the switch out and makes the circuit. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread

May i ask, by doing this will there be any loss of performance or anything i have to take care of?
Correct me if i'm wrong, the PGM4 card key have some data burn in to the key right? So if i jump it, the data cannot be read right? Therefore, will lose or miss something, am i right about this.
you will still need to have the card in the holder, Fonty's idea is simple bypassing the switch and not the rest of functionality that the key card provides.
Charles is (obviously) correct, joining the wires togeather only shows if the switch is faulty, the card has to be in place for the bike to work.

Thank for the replied. I don't really get it, put in the card and jump the wire? Correct me if i mistaken what the message trying to get across.
By the way does anyone have any ideal the card will damage? If the switch is damage, anyway to replace it, rather then changing the whole unit? This is what the shop feedback to me, that i have to change them.
All the switch does is connect the (R/B) and (R/blu) wires togeather, so if you pull them apart where they connect behind the PGM and connect the loom side pair togeather and it still doesn't work when the card is in place then the problem isn't the switch. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
The switch is just that, a switch. two peices of metal that when the card is slide it, pushed one side of the metal to contact the other side, creating a curcuit. So "jumping" the two wires, will remove the chance of the switch itself being the issue.
think of it as a light switch. you have two wires that connect to the light switch. When the light switch is in the off position, the current doesn't flow from one wire to the other (completing the curcuit). When the light switch if on, the circuit is completed, and the current will flow. Connecting the two wires together (you don't want to connect them when they are live, you may shock yourself!), you do the same as switching the light switch to the on position.
This is what you are doing with the card switch, just by passing the switch. The card still needs to be in the card holder, as there are other circiuts involved with the card that need to be completed in order for the bike to work.
By the way, all this is trouble shooting and more is outlined in the PGM-IV Key Card and PGM-IV chapters in the English workshop manual that is available in the Market Place (Link to the left side of your screen up above)

Lucky can just replace the switch rather then buying the whole unit like the workshop telling me.
