New Here, have few questions.

Most other forums have come in introduce yourself section, so I guess I should.

I've been riding bikes for almost 20 years, have other 2 strokes from Smallframe Vespa to RG500 and I'm not afraid to turn a wrench. Do all my own work but have never even seen an NSR up close, but always wanted one.

Just picked up '89 MC18 PGM2, in fact I liked it so much I got 2 of them, just a coincidence that I ended up with 2 bikes. Second bike is not here yet, still waiting for the transportation to get sorted but it seems both need parts.

The one that's here is missing lower fairings, should I even try to locate stock ones or just buy the Asian re-pros? I did see the thread with fairingkit@live.com recommendation.

Also rear shock is blown, like it's not even there, bike bonces like a pogo, not safe to ride. What are the options for replacement on the budget? I can revalve/respring/modify the shock if needed.

Last thing on the list is a rear caliper, it's stuck and dragging, after a few laps around the parking lot rear wheel just locked up. Should I rebuild it if so are there any US model Hondas that have same size seals or is there an option to swap it for something smaller/better/more modern?

Greetings!
You definately got youself the best of the nsr bunch! (i'm not biased at all)
if you can rebuild the standard shock yourself, that'll be the cheapest option.
Standard fairings are always the best way if you can get them, try yahoo auctions japan ( ask moriwaki man on here) or alkamoto in the UK usually have mc18 panels in primer.

Only took a quick look at the shock but is seems that it's a sealed (welded shut) OE unit, much like my Hawk not rebuildable.

Off to the garage, gonna take a closer look.

Youre welcome!

i have the same problem with rebuilting the rear shock...
I am searching from what other bikes can fit because the stock ones arent worth spending money on them!

About the rear caliper you dont need to change it honda used it on cbr 600rr too you just have to rebuilt it , clean the caliper, piston and change the o-rings
