I found what I thought was a bargain on ebay , a NSR for 300$.
All the front and side fairing has been hit with paint stripper which sux cause the back fairing is nice so I think the front would have been aswell, such a shame to kill good stock paint.
Put a new battery in 3rd kick after sitting for six months it started up , bit smokey from the front/bottom cylinder at first but it may have settled if I could have had it run longer.
The reason I didn't was the left hand carb was leaking fuel from what looks like a worn rubber for the float bowl. It was then I noticed the PGM 2 smokin it's butt off. I stopped the bike threw that one away and I have a replacement ready to go on .... Before I do , should I just throw the new one on or is there something I should check that may have cause the PGM2 to just burn out like that , rather than it just being age ?
Also I have taken off the float bowls to find the main jet on these ta-22b carbs is #105 when I read here it should be #128, which I will change when I get the new main jets.
The bike appears to have been derestricted at one point (wire splice air box drilled) but then put back to stock (wire repaired and airbox wrapped in tape) .Could this be why the jets are #105 ? just wondering why someone would put in smaller jets ? (the other jets are stock sized)
Apart from those 2 questions the only other thing I am looking for for now is the float bowl gaskets , does anyone know where I can get just those 2 gaskets?, because so far all I have found is single kits for 45$ each , and I dont feel like spending 90$ on 2 float bowl gaskets.
Thanks for reading and any help and guidance would be greatly apreciated !!
Also if you live nearby or sydney maybe as I am down there alot It'd be great to get some hands on help

Hi Mate
Where in the coast are you i`m in wangi just past morriset .
First check your powervalves are not sticking ,cables are good ,Check the reg , not shore about pgm2 but stuck powervalves will burn out a pgm3 very quickly.
I would say that you needle and seat are leaking on your carbs you can get cheap kits on e-bay or tyga have seal kits .I would pull the carbs and clean them out .You can prob get them to seal once there clean.
cannot talk jets in this part of forum but sounds scary
I personally wouldn't put the other PGM on until you've checked for reason why it might have failed. Do a search on here, plenty of threads about pgm failure reasons. Off the top of my head, battery, regulator and power valves sticking.
Follow the jetting advice in the tuning section, I think you've already possibly worked out that 105 seems too small...
Luckily I am not in a huge rush to get this bike on the road as I bought a yamaha FZR a few days ealier
(I sold my bike , freaked out as it rode out of sight , panicked and bought 2 more bikes incase i felt like selling one in haste again )
I'm at San Remo, so pretty close.I go up to cooronbong daily to drop my son to school. my number is 0402422486 if you feel like dropping in to see this bike and throw some advice at me
I tried going into the nsr250 discussion area but it said sorry i dont have permission ? how do i get permission?
The battery was dead and wouldnt charge so I just jump started it , maybe cause the battery was dead the pgm2 died.
The bike was sitting for 6 months prior to me getting it. So I should have given the carbs a proper going over before attempting the start but I get impatient alot. I think I'm ADHD most likely (hence the selling of the old bike for no good reason!) Today I'm off to honda to see if I can get the jets and a new chain. Then I'll come back on here to learn about these power valves.
throw in the other bike while i'm at it
34 and on my p's = the small cc bikes,,, _________________ NSR250R MC18
When my reg / rec died it fried the pgmII unit. If the battery's not charging i'd start there
Oh and welcome sport. _________________ it wouldn't be fun if it was easy!
34 and on p`s didn`t they give you mature rider and skip p`s ? I had l`s for 1week then done the p`s course and went straight to full licence so from no bike licence to full in a week.
To get into the HRC and supporting members area you need to pay member ship ,Carbon will get you into the supporting members,
The honda dealers won`t be much help to you as soon as you say NSR they don`t want to know .
I actually didn't check if the r/r was charging after I jump started it. should have eh. I just presumed battery was dead from lack of use. So I'll check that when I get the carbs back on .
In NSW they changed the laws for riders mid last year (about a month before I did my test) so everyone must be on p's for a year , I didn't have to stay on my l's though I just didn't go back to get my p's till last week.
I can't find the search function can someone guide me so I can find how to service/check my power valves?
I jus twent out and got the jets I needed and a new chain (rusty from sitting around) and ran into a painter while I was there at honda , now I have someone to get those front fairings back into shape
Anyone got some pointers on me finding the float bowl gaskets ? _________________ NSR250R MC18
whats the hassle with these compared to any old bike Middo?
Besides it's here now so it's gotta be cleaned up, rego'd and sold to leave here
I'm committed to it now _________________ NSR250R MC18
