I get my bike back tomorrow but still haven't managed to fix the RC valve issue.

I'm gagging to ride it and wondered if I could manually adjust the RC valve servo to say half open and ride it? Is there an optimum setting for daily use?

You can lock them to almost any position and the bike will run. Wide open tends to make the midrange a little weak but will go almost as normal at the top.

Half open is better. Good midrange with very little lost at the top.

You have to remember that the power valve on an NSR n(mc18/21) isn't fully open until 12,000rpm. Most make peak power below this figure anyway so having the powervalve wound fully open doesn't always give the best peak power anyway.

Can I lock them open by adjusting the pulley on top of the servo to half way between the hi/lo positions for a good indication of half open? I'll then uplug it from the loom.

I've got the RC valve setup pages from this website bookmarked but I think I'm going to find it difficult to actually set them up given that my servo has no action at all. It won't do the movement at 2krpm like the manual states...

How about a choke lever and adjust them on the fly manually like the old boys did with ignition timing

a) Pulley should go to "lo" on a well working unit.

Or attach the servo to your throttle mecanism to have them fully open on full throttle and closed on closed throttle. Think stan stephens used to sell a similar system for tzr125's before servos were available here due to the 12bhp learner laws.
