What purpose does the "key" have in the key card?

What purpose does the "key" have in the key card for the PGM IV MC28?

I'm checking out Yahoo Auctions and see a variety of these come and go...and in my searches, haven't figured out what the little key does.

Is this just a gimmick? Does everything operate as normal without it?

Keep in mind I'm not talking about the card itself but the triangular key in the top corner.

The little key is for the conventional locks; fuel cap, glove box, and helmet lock.

It's also handy for picking the smart (used in the loosest terms) card out of the back of the PGM when it gets stuck.
