Will a derestricted NSR pull a wheelie in the first few gears without clutching it? (basicaly get the bike right to the sweet spot and snap the throttle)
if not, shoould a tyga piped nsr?
just curious, i was expecting my bike to wheelie like a madman in 1'st and 2nd gear...
Last nights quick zip on my bike felt pretty good power wise, but it wasnt scary fast. Front end got light under full accelleration but i was expecting it to stand right up. Hopefully when i get the jetting set up better ??

2 Strokes and I'm Off
Don't forget the NSR has pretty high gearing as standard, specially for the track. If you want monster wheelies, you'd better lower the gearing a bit! _________________ MC21SP Plaything

My otherwise stock MC28 with old second hand god-knows-what (HRC or JHA) pipes .. plus the HRC keycard would lift the front in first gear just by popping the throttle when over 8,000 RPM. Very easy.
My MC21 (much taller gearing!) would not. Until recently!! Haha! Took it out yesterday after rebuild and richer jetting ... and to my surprise I had the little bugger wheelieng, which means my lean jetting had me waaaay down on poewr before. Can't wait to finish jetting and get to the dyno today ... if I don't seize it first.
With less power I can get the front light on the circuit out of corners (especially if theres a camber), or easier still over a crest. _________________ MC28 SE -sold-

I so wish you were going to be at the dyno day. I decided today that the YPVS will be the bike to take along.
If you want wheelies, thisis the bike, No altered gearing, no need to crack the throttle of fettle the clutch. 1st is pretty much useless unless you are careful with the beans but in 2nd it floats up if you just roll the gas on. It needs some clutch to do it in 3rd...
It's engine is tuned to the point of nothing more could be done, cheap, old, and nasty, doesn't go around corners well and is uncontrollable after 130mph with 1500 rpm of engine power left to go. Shakes you to death and is prone to wheelspin on fast getaways unless the front is pointing skywards... but man, what a rush - ride it to believe it _________________ These aren't the droids you're looking for.
My MC21 wheelies on power no problems, even before the wire splice. After all the wire splice affects the top end power at 9-10k rpm I think Torque is the important factor for wheelies!! Mine lifts and nearly chucks me off the back at about 7k rpm or so, plus Im average weight of 13 stone. _________________ NSR250R MC21 (NEARLY SOLD!!)

Santa, please bring me a NSR500 and a SP-2 next year. Pleeeeease....
I have a theory that the lighter you are the harder it is to wheelie the bike. I am very light ~60kg and I have to work to get the front end up on anything but a fully fledged sport-bike. To get the front off the ground on an MC21 with stock gearing at 7,000 rpm I would have to be heaving on the bars. At 9,000 derestricted if you whack it on then it pops up into your palms so long as I sit back in the seat a bit. With the MC28 gearing it's a different story. _________________ MC28 SE -sold-

I went out and tested mine tonight. No clutch in 1st gear pinned, and the front starts lifting around 9k and will go over if you arent careful. Second gear needs the power in the sweet spot and a simple whack of the throttle. Third, and you need to bounce her hard and put a beating on the clutch.
Oh yeah, mine has a little tweaking done to it. The ignition derestriction, Tyga pipes, Tyga reeds, and Eric Gorr overbore are a sweet combo for a raging top end.
I have the HRC 030 card, stock carbs with powerjets in place, stock oil injection, Daytona filter, heavily modded airbox, HRC reed stuffers, Tyga carbon reeds, ported/epoxied cases, Eric Gorr 268cc overbore/porting/Wiseco lightweight forged pistons, Tyga chambers with aluminum cans, JHA clutch springs, and bone stock gearing. In fact, I have a 39 tooth rear sprocket that will make its way on soon to tame this thing... _________________ Paul Herr
