Who's changed the format? Am I being stupid, I am the wrong side of six-0, but all of a sudden since the change nothing is fitting the pages, also there is no preview or submit button on replies. I can't work out why? Any ideas? Not too complicated, no fancy computer words, please! _________________ Proud Father of , 05 ktm 400exc supermoto 2018 honda crf rx supermoto
Layout has been tested in IE, FireFox and Chrome. preview and submit buttons are at the bottom of the reply page, just like the new post page. _________________ Charles Gallant
When you get to my age Andy, you just get used to something and it goes and changes, you have trouble reading the small print, and when Charles talks of IE, firefox and chrome, I just havnt got a clue what he is talking about. Perhaps I better just spend my last few years tinkering in the garage and leave computers to the young ones. Not happy either.
IMHO the posting page is good, reading a thread is fine, the main list of threads page is absolutely terrible; a messy sprawl of text, all similar colours and text size. The thread title used to stand out and yet be easy to read, now you have to hunt for it and it's not nice to read, browsing the forum is a chore and that's not how it should be.
The start page (list of forums page) is pretty rubbish too. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
added back in the old style for those that wish to change back to it can do. You can do this in your profile page by setting the Board Style to nsrWorld.
The old style is out of date in terms of what has been added to the forums, but it will still work as it had in the past. it wont include links to edit history or include spell checking for posting. As well as when I add new features, I wont be supporting that style going forward.
What I have noticed is that the pages load up almost instantly so going through the site is quicker , mmmm that doesn't sound right as that would make it a 21
The one change I hate the most is either the DIY centre or the supermarket swapping the shelves about Back to spending 45mins in the place finding stuff Instead of my usual 10min whip round
I'll just get used to the new layout and the fookers will change it again
Anyhoo, when do we get the Rothmans coloured forum format <stir>
So the forced change in format was in anticipation for some additional features I was adding to the forums.
Here is what I have added in the past week.
1. Spell Checking for posts - When adding a new topic or replying to a topic, there is now a "Spell Check" button next to where you type your post. After you type up what you want to post, click on the spell check button and you can correct all the words you misspelt.
2. Edit history tracking - This will track edits to post and provide a link at the bottom of the post to all the revisions of that post.
3. Printer Friendly view of topic - There is now a "Printer" icon at the top/bottom when viewing a topic. Click on this and you will get a printer friendly view of the topic that you can print out (simple text, basic formatting).
4. View Single Post - There is now a Post # for each post next to the Author/Date of the post, click on the number to view that post by itself. This can be used to link to an individual posts or to view just the single post.
5. Download Topic or Single Post - At the top/bottom of each Topic there is a Download Topic link. Clicking this will produce a text file of the topic that you can save to your local machine. Same for each individual post. This will allow you to save information on your local machine for later reference.
6. Bookmarks - Added "Bookmarks" to the forums. This allows you to Bookmark a specific topic (link at the bottom of the topics "Set Bookmark for this topic") that allows you to quickly recall a topic you need in the future. To view/manage your bookmarks, click on the "Bookmarks" link in the header of the forums, giving you a list of all topics you bookmarked. You can click on those bookmarks to get to the topics quickly, as well as delete bookmarks you no longer need.
7. Update Your Email Address! - Since I have been getting a bunch of bounced emails from forum notifications (replies to your posts, new private messages, etc..) I have added the ability for me to force users to update their email address before they can post to the forums or send any more private messages.
I think that's pretty much all the new features I added for now. _________________ Charles Gallant
