MC18 wanted for Practical Sportsbikes

Mon Oct 24, 2011 10:40 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hello,

Next month we're looking to do a 1989 250s group test, for which we'd like a NSR MC18. We need one that's in standard colours, in mostly original condition - pipes, a few stainless fasteners and that sort of thing are fine, but for the most part it needs to look and ride like an original. Derestricted bikes aren't a problem - in fact, they're preferred. It'll need all the help it can get to best my RGV... Cool

Baiting aside, if you'd like to help and aren't 100s of miles from Peterborough, I can be contacted at chris.newbigging@bauermedia.co.uk, or 01733 468 396. It'll be fully insured in our care, and we'll arrange transport. It will need to have a current MoT, but tax isn't an issue, we have a trade plate to cover that.

Cheers
Chris Newbigging, Features Editor.

i raced one for 4 years and they are the biggest pile of s*** going, i think thats proof there. 17 blow ups in 4 years, give them some stick and they blow, ride them under 30 mph and they last, so yes they are crap

Easy now, it's only light hearted ribbing. As it happens, we've got an NSR in the house too, and I'm well aware of the, shall we say, differences in production values.
Still need an MC18 to kick my pile of s***'s backside.

just saying you cannot compare a rgv to a nsr, but you cannot compare a nsr to a lucky strike rgv nothing looks as good as a lucky strike rgv ;p

The early models look best in Pepsi colour imho - really simple, suits the shape. But then Seed/Terra MC18s are about as pretty as an NSR gets - I'd buy an MC21 (if I had any money), but a late 18 is my favourite looker.

You are welcome to borrow my 18sp, you could do with a nice reverse cylinder TZR for the test as well. Laughing

Paul,

I didn't realise you had an 18 too - we'll take you up on that.
Funnily enough, a 3MA is other potential breakdown we're after. I'm on the hunt for a nice one now, if you know of any!

Cheers

You could ask RobH too, then you'd have a Mk1 and a Mk2, Chris. Rob's R2J looks like it just came out of the showroom!

Thanks to all of those who've volunteered bikes - we're going to use Paul's MkII so we've got three bikes from the same year.

Cheers
