NSR 150 Oil light

Mon May 16, 2005 8:43 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hello,

Been riding the bike for about 2-3 hours and let it rest for about 30 minutes then when i took it for another spin and rev it up to 8g on first gear the OIL light just came up then off. But i check the oil that mix with the petrol and its half full

what is this oil light for?
the petrol and oil mixture?
or the oil for the gearbox??

and while did it just came up then turn off?

any help will be great.

The light on the 250 is a combined ignition warning and low 2T oil level warning light, so I would imagine it's the same on the 150 too.

There is quite a safety margin built into the oil warning system so that you have a lot of miles/Kms left before you run out, so I would say that you simply run close to the warning level. This would mean that on a corner, under hard acceration or hard braking, the level could appear to the sensor to be low. Once the baike is back level the oil level rises back sufficiently to turn the light out!

I personally top the oil tank back up after every ride. I can't ever remember seeing the warning light come on!

It's a red light warning you not to start the bike.

To do so will lead to you riding the bike, and inevitably to a life long addiction to two strokes! Laughing

If it comes on whilst riding, the two stroke oil is low. There's quite a reserve though, so don't panic and pull up immediately.

It comes on initially to show you the light bulb works, and goes out once the engine is running.

the light is telling you that your oil tank is empty/low
my light use to come on briefly when accelerating with low oil

so top up your oil tank
