RSW GP Coils

Mon Dec 12, 2011 1:01 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi !!

A good friend has give me two Aprilia RSW 250 coils, from a GP bike, in perfect shape. I was thinking to buy a pair of RS coils in the marketplace, but i wonder if i can use these ones.

Coils are Denso, and have only the first part of the reference number on it, 129700- but seems that all Denso coils starts with that number. I have measured them, and the resistance is 8.8 ohm.

Another issue, is that these coils have only one wire connector, the ground is taken from the coil mount itself.

Has anybody use them in a NSR ? Can i use them ?

Is the 8.8 ohms you got, with or without the plug caps on?

Just measured my coils (for another thread) and got 0.3 Ohms primary, and 18.9K Ohms secondary...

I have also measured my old ones, and seems pretty similar to your measures, I wonder why both coils don't have the same resistance ... ¿?

I believe the earths on the primary coil run back to the PGM on a stock setup. That could be your only issue in running these. A few tests with the multimeter should show if the earths are required to go all the way back to the PGM.
