MC18 PGM-II derestrictor identification

Thu Mar 08, 2012 7:17 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Can anybody tell me what this actually is, and/or does and who makes it?
Is it just an expensive way to do the wire splice on a PGM-II?
Or does it actually change the ignition curve and/or air-jet solenoid opening times and/or powervalve control ??

I am thinking of buying it but cannot get my hands on it to pull it apart. Just curious more than anything.

It's just a wire splice in a box. Looks to be the HRC unit.

The wire splice does change the ignition timing and power valve timing so yes that box does do those things too.

They usually come with a repousse HRC logo on them and not a sticker.

I spent a couple hours on one and couldn't trace anything more than that it lifts the Orange/ Blue wire from ground and shorts it to +12V DC.

That is an HRC unit. I think later on they stopped having the HRC embossed on them as I have two CBR400 NC23 HRC units and they are identical apart from one has HRC embossed on it and the other a sticker just like that but both have the same HRC middle parts code stamped on the back

Here is a yahoo auction for one, as you can see it has an HRC parts designation stamped on the back NKD:
