NSR-WORLD Home page link to Message Board

Wed Feb 04, 2004 3:11 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

You guys probably already know this, but the link on the home page does not lead to this message board.

It makes it difficult for idiots like me to find the board.

By the way, thanks alot for the hard work here. This board is looking great!! I prefer this type of forum much better than the email crap. I sift through so much email each day, those email rings get real old real fast.

That's strange Paul, the link works fine for me!

Check your browser cache, but I don't really know what to suggest as the link has been the same for over 12 months now!

The frame that the Messageboard is contained in has the same name/URL, and the code inside the frame points to the forum server. Unless you are trying to access the forum pages directly (i.e. without the contents and NSR-WORLD heading) I can't find a problem.

Thanks for the comment on the new layout though!

Cheers,

Andy.

I dont know what the problem is then, maybe I really am an idiot. Every time I try the link, though, I get that, "we're sorry, but due to a server relocation etc..." notice.

...and the board doesnt seem to keep me logged in between pages. Works fine on every other board I frequent, so I doubt it is in my settings.

The server relocation notice is probably your cache isn't updating... when you click on the link, try then holding the ctrl key down, and pressing the F5 key. This will force the window to refresh and not from your browser cache.

as for the keeping you logged in... ye, I think that has something to do with how we are displaying the forum web pages. Since we are displaying them in a frame, the cache isn't being saved properly, and screwing things up.

I am planning on talking to Andy about this in the near future, and moving the forums to just that... Not having them in frames workes fine.

Thanks,

Charles

There you go Paul... don't ever say we don't respond to our readers' input!

You should now see the forums open in a new window which should help clear up the login issues etc.

Andy.
