Hello to everyone.
Does anyone know how much exactly length and stroke has a steering stabilizer to fit on NSR with stock forks?

The one on mine has a body length of 200mm, and a stroke of 120mm, only used for trackdays, so has a limited lock, for everyday street use you might want to go a bit longer, maybe 140 stroke, but down to personal preference. I never found it any trouble with 120 stroke when i used it on the street.

What model? I've got an mc18 one that is too short for an mc21.

I dismissed that as an mc28 needs a steering damper like a fat girl needs a rape alarm.

Hi Fontyyy
The bike which i want to fit a stabillizer is an MC28 with the below parts fitted on it and it is necessary a steering stabilizer Very Happy

PGMIII electrics full conversion
HRC deristrictor box
HRC intake rectifier
HRC NF5 reeds
JHA NSR500 V2 type high rev exhausts
HRC rear head conversion with 1,00mm squish
HRC type short plugs and caps
HRC type carbon airbox (open carbs)
HRC carbs jet kit
HRC RS250 coils
Crankcases flow
Crankcases and cylinders perfectly matching at the ports
Cylinders porting
And finally of course oil pump removed

Do not rush to wrong conclusions earn!It is a fast NSR not a weak stock MC28 Wink
So to the point of the topic if someone know the right dimensions of an MC28 steering stabilizer please reply.
Thanks

Hi Stefanos ,

On my race bike , when i used a steering damper it made it more difficult for me to feel what the rear end was doing . If i was coming out of a corner too hard i did not have enough time to feel the rear sliding and was not able to react quickly enough .
With out the steering damper i have a much beter feel for what is going on at the rear . I hardley ever have tank slappers , if there is one i roll on and ride it out , my steering stops are very close so that helps too .
I had a rs damper and can get the measurements when i dig it out of the garage .

Here is a steering damper that I have not yet fitted but think/hope will work on my MC18. NOT MC28.
I am unsure if there would be any difference between MC18 and MC28?
Hopefully you can get the required dimensions off the pictures.
The two pictures show minimum and maximum positions.
Measurements are in cm

<edit> I just held this steering damper roughly in place on the bike and looked at how it might restrict the steering.
It seems that this particular steering damper which has a stroke of 75mm WILL NOT accommodate full steering movement (lock to lock) on my MC18.
I would guess that for full lock steering, a stroke of at least 100mm would be required. But that is just a guess.
This is the best I can do. Sorry, but an exact answer to your question is yet to come. </edit>

Hello to everyone
TuckerBag you are the man, just simple.Thats exactly i wanted some photos. Thanks very much.
Neal thanks for your reply.I have also an MC18 sp bike with only mod (wire splice and a carefully jetting) which i did some trackdays in the past and with stock steering stopper the bike i felt that needed a stabilzer help. The bike when i exit at the high speed corner before the final straight with full throttle, the steering was very light and it wasnt felt very stable at the straight on high speed.I dont say that the bike needs a stabilizer in a hard step adjustment but in the second or third step it will be perfect.
The tuned MC28 which i will use now in track days is much more powerfull from my almost stock MC18 thats the reason i believe that it will need necessary a steering stabilizer.I will fit one to have it and if i will feel the same with you on the rear it is only two bolts to remove it and do some tests, just simple Smile
I will measure to my MC18 if it is the same dimensions with my MC28 for the stabilizer.
If also someone has a steering stabilizer on a MC28 bike and knows the dimensions i would appreciate if he reply.
Thanks

Stefanos, try to use short sentences, it will help a lot.

I've just measured my mc28 on the paddock stand and steering travel looks to be about 110mm.
Hence, a steering damper of 120mm stroke and up will work just fine.

If you take a look the biggest sentence that i wrote is 1,5 lines which is very usual.
If you mean the full post length i can not do it smaller because this is a forum with worldwide users from (Singapore,Japan, etc) which is difficult for them to understand the shortcuts and the difficult words if they are interested at the posts subject.
So i write my posts with the most simple words and with out shortcuts.
To the subject of the post i measured my MC28 also and i think that with stock steering stopers it will fit perfectly a damper with 400mm full length and 130mm stroke.

I measured the stroke of my old steering damper I had fitted to my old road MC21.
For an MC21 with unmodified lock stops, a damper with 140mm of travel will work. I remember it had just enough travel with about 5mm leeway at full lock each way.
