I finally got the bike back together yesterday, (thanks to Rob- nxrsr20 for his help) and when running it is missfiring from the front cylinder. It has what looks like good spark, I'm wondering if it must be carb related?
I'll pull them off tonight and check the float levels and recheck for any blockages. Anything else I should be looking at?
Spade terminals are not the nicest of connectors.
Quite often just pulling them off and re-fitting them will improve the connection.
I usually make sure that they are a tight fit and carefully bend the folds a little to make the connection tighter. Go to Maplin (or somewhere like it) and get some good quality switch cleaner (I can get it if you have any trouble) and go through the bikes connections unplugging, checking tightness and then spraying with the switch cleaner before re-connecting.
A little tip for all you folks out there with half decent hi-fi's. Play the first part of a record, cd etc (Not mp3 files as they are junk)...Then turn off the system and one by one remove and replace all mains plugs to the system. Refit and remove again. Now listen to the same bit of music again!
If you are not 'deaf' through not wearing ear plugs on ride outs ( ) then tell me the difference that you can hear.
Sounds a bit 'off topic' but it's not, because it applies to any electrical connection...bikes included!

re the spade connectors, you'll likely find evidence of charring and/or pitting. When I had this problem, I gently cleaned the blades with a scotchbright pad to get them shiny and then sprayed with electric cleaner as suggested. But I totally agree that the key is to get a nice tight fit, so using needle nose pliers, I gently squeezed the female connector and then reinserted the blade connector (lord this is sounding sexual ). Tight fit, good to go. Words to live by, I'd say. _________________ -Jim

when we cleaned your RC valves I also remember the plug cap came off. If you have enough lead length there, trim about 2-3cm off, and screw the plug cap back on (it literally is a self tapping screw at the end of the plug cap. If that looks dirty/corroded just buy a new one).
