Had a tell-tell rust trail from the coolant pipe, was hoping it's just a bad hose, but no such luck, pipe came off right in my hand
Now what? Can those pipe fittings be ordered and pressed in or am I replacing both barrels?
We've repaired them before, but the spigot isn't a part that's available from Honda.
If you have any dead barrels with good unions you can pull them out and press them into your good barrels, or turn some new alloy ones up. A little sealer on them, and press them home... good to go! _________________ Andy.

I can spin one on the lathe, didn't think of that till you mentioned it, thanks for the idea.
Guess I'll pull the barrels now, was gonna do it after first ride anyway to inspect and to replace the power valve shaft. Are front and rear same?
What about head gaskets, noticed they have only few holes, which way do I install them?
I took a photo of how I orientated the head gaskets on my MC18.
See 8th photo down at this link.
I can't actually remember why I orientated the head gaskets that way, but I guess it was obvious to me at the time?
If it is wrong, perhaps someone can let me know. _________________ [color=#808080][size=9]Yes,.. I too know how to waste Time and Money,...
Tucker, I noticed the stamp on a gasket in your photo with "EXUP" assume they all have that and bigger holes go to exhaust side?
Looking around in the workshop section found engine tear-down and rebuild procedure but it says to leave heads attached unless there is a problem with a gasket, might just do that.
Tracked down machinist last night, he called me back just before midnight and we have a date at his shop with my cylinders
I thought it must have been obvious at the time. And it was, thanks to EXUP. _________________ [color=#808080][size=9]Yes,.. I too know how to waste Time and Money,...
I'm going to say it again, and again, and again... There's not much you can't find on either the forum or the main site! _________________ Andy.

Well in order to prevent Andy having to repeat himself too much, here is a useful hint.
Seeing as there is no readily accessible way to search the main site??
you can type <searchwords> site:nsr-world.com into the search bar of the Google Chrome web browser to easily search the main site.
In this case "head gasket site:nsr-world.com" is possibly quite useful
And as some people seem to sometimes get poor results some of the time from using the forum search, (yes, a debatable point) may I suggest this:
<searchwords> site:nsr250.net/forums
For example "exup site:nsr250.net/forums"
Just trying to be helpful.

my problem with searches is not lack of skill but lack of patience to sift through results: it's summertime and I'm very busy at work plus I try to ride as often as I can, winter time is another story, no work, no riding, no money...
Now I hope this does not get me flamed but I would like to ask about swapping heads, my rear head has same issue with coolant pipe as the cylinders, it's rotted. I have a head from a blown up MC18 motor, looks identical to my somewhat trained eye, no visible damage, pretty flat. Question is can I just swap them or should I CC the heads? Both motors seem stock to me so I assume thy can be swapped
phpBB search isn't the best, I know. Those who are around the longest and read each post can usually recall where/when a relevant post was made, and can often pick it out of search results quite quickly.
Using Google to search here and the main site is undoubtedly better. I'd like to add Google search to the main site, but I refuse to have the advertising that comes with it, and can't afford to pay to use it without advertising. No-one's paying us to advertise here, so very little revenue coming in. _________________ Andy.

One more, what;s the difference between KV3GR E1 and KV3GR E2 heads?
Also my ring gap is 0.50mm and there is "NO DATA AVAILABLE" for MC18 model, I assume since service limit on all others is 0.5 it it should be same/similar on MC18 so these need to be replaced?
