Hi guys.. just got a NSR250 mc 21.. still trying to learn how things work with the bike.. the sound is just awesome.. needs some tuning and repairing/replacing the fairings.. all in all its amazing to own a bike like no other! long live 2 Stroke bikes!

The lazy way to do it is just to replace it with a modern day radial master cylinder, otherwise it is cheaper to buy it from the UK than a locally sourced shop.

Maybe it's something we can try and get stocked in the nsr shop *hint hint Andy*

i tried ebay but no luck.. do you know how to access it from the UK and what site is it? another thing is if i replace it with a modern one like you said would you have any idea what honda model it would be? is it the same with a cbr 250rr or a 600rr? sorry about so many questions.. still in the proccess of gaining informations and experience..

Do your research and have a go, you may find other sources that are better than what is known right now.

i tried looking over the net.. but not much information about a direct replacement that i can find.. the guy from where i bought my bike told me that a cbr250rr would be the same.. but im still in the process of finding out.. just got the bike last weekend so still have the urge to repair the things that needs to be done..

im located in the west side in st albans area.. what about you sir and the other guys.. what area are you guys from.. hope to meet some other NSR250 or 2 stroke guys here in melbourne..

one more thing guys.. does any of you tried buying NSR fairig thru the internet? if so how's the quality? my fairings got some cracks and some end part is cut.. would you guys think its ok to repair my old fairing or just invest for a new one? your inputs will be much appreciated! thank you in advance!

havnt seen for myself but by all accounts the chinese replica sets are good quality and if you want a different look there are tyga fairing sets.

I beleive (dont trust me 100%) that you want a 19x20 master cylinder for the NSR250. You can pick up a brembo or an OEM from other bikes that use the same size master cylinder.

As for the body work, if you go with aftermarket, make sure it ABS and not PVC material (early Chinese stuff was PVC and crap, most new stuff is ABS). or go with FRP/Fiberglass body work (Tyga for example).

If you are talking about the 20yo CBR250RR then it will be the same 20yo worn out master cylinder as what you have now, maybe not bypassing as bad but will with time.

From what I have been told, if you go Chinese fairings, make sure they are injection moulded.

still in the process of derusting the petrol tank with vinegar. is it any good with vinegar or use something else? also what solution would be the best to coat the inside of the tank to protect it? does any of you got any particular brand you know that works? just trying to get some of your inputs plus the things i read in the internet at least i got some additional options. thank you!

Tyga now do fibreglass full kits in original shape I believe? I'd strongly recommend that over Chinese fairings from that big auction site. Much stronger if you have a spill...

but those tyga body parts comes only in white right? so i believe if i get those tyga parts i still need to paint them?

Yes that's right, they come unpainted. It's true that they are a bit more expensive, but Tyga dont muck around so you can be pretty confident about the quality. If you want something that will last, I would personally go for Tyga (or a local company - but I couldn't comment on that), as the Chinese fairings don't have the same quality.

In the last 18 months I've needed LOTS of parts, and I haven't bought a single thing from a local shop. No one stocks NSR parts over here. The marketplace on this site is really good, as is Tyga. Depending on what you are doing, it also pays to build up a relationship with a local engineer. Be careful who you let work on the bike too, as not all mechanics seem to be created equal.

As for cost over here, it depends what model. I have a 21 and they generally tend to be around 3.5k or 4 for a minter (thats 2k for you Brits). Projects like mine can be about NZ$1500. MC18s seem to be around 3k. There is a MC28 advertised at the moment for 7k, but it's been on the market for aaaages and is way overpriced.
