Hi all, just been on ****site for a browse and seen first listing is of Nsr 250 workshop manual. It has a buy it now price of £4.99
It is surely someone out to make a quick buck, I hope not at the expense of Charles.
It says it is on disc and in English.
I bought the service book through this site a couple of months ago for around £125 delivered to my home address.
It is absolutely brilliant and great value for money.
I sincerely hope that all members and visitors to this site purchase the manual through Charles otherwise his efforts and total dedication have been in vain.
I hope all Nsr owners have a conscience.
Anybody else got thoughts on this subject?

Yes, that manual was purchased some time ago from the Marketplace, and immediately copied and resold. This is why we have never made it available as a PDF, to try minimise the risk of it happening for as long as possible so at least costs were covered. The seller was a member of the forums, but naturally was banned.
People get the gripes when I/we protect our content and certain knowledge, but things like that are why I don't give two hoots what those leaches think, and think we are better off without them. I have so much content I would like to add, but having seen stuff swiped, posted elsewhere, and then passed off as their own work/info, what's now published is very selective. Everything from text, to images, to wiring diagrams, and now even a workshop manual, have been taken and exploited without even so much as an acknowledgement. Charles spent months translating the manuals, and I have spent hundreds of hours, maybe more, drawing diagrams and retouching images for the site and even forum replies. Virtually every diagram you will find on the site/forum has been hand-drawn/re-drawn. We've even taken stuff apart before, to photograph for forum replies so that new members can see in pictures what is often difficult to visualise by text alone!
Thank you for your support Daz, and to everyone else too who backs us. Very few realise how much time and effort it's taken over the last 13 years of NSR-WORLD.COM to build the site and forums to where they are now. (And the 3~4 years of nsr250.com before that.) _________________ Andy.

if you drew those images in the manual it's intellectual property and you can get the evilBay to drop those auctions and even ban the seller.
further more, when you sell the manual require some kind of check box during the check out process, like any electronic transaction, "I here by agree not to copy or resell this..." makes it easier to prevent public re-sale in the future
this reminds me, I need to order one, looks like it will come in handy soon!
Yes, I have seen the postings and have asked the individuals to stop what they are doing. Have even tracked down their accounts here on the forums and have banned them.
All I can hope is that others see the benefits and would rather support the site/people that are actually bringing them the information rather then going to the unethical people who feel the need to steal it.
Yes, the service manual is in an odd spot as the images are from the factory manual, but the content is 100% mine as I am the one who translated every page word for word to put together what everyone wanted for the past 15 years, an NSR service manual in English. The same manual that Honda never produced.
Dealing with e Bay is like dealing with PayPal (Oh wait, they are one in the same?). You can complain, but if your not the paying customer and there is any possible "grey" area, e Bay will side with the one who is paying them money.
If you have the current link, please send it to me in PM, would like to hunt down the current auctions and make sure the individuals are not here on the forums anymore.

I didn't redraw all the diagrams in the Workshop Manual, although over time I would like to, for a "second edition" maybe! It's a massive undertaking though, really on par with the translation itself! If you have a look on our Facebook page, you will see a screenshot of the MC16E engine cutaway I drew in Illustrator. It's just one example of the time and effort I put into the site. Anyone who knows anything about illustration, engineering drawing, or CAD will understand the time taken to produce just that one image!
Unfortunately, intellectual property seems to mean nothing on the web, and some people will also argue that the workshop manual is Honda's property, and that we shouldn't even be selling an English version. I would dearly love Honda's blessings to reproduce the manuals, as I do with Haynes to reproduce some of their manuals content (and anyone else's that you see on the site!), but I fear they wouldn't be so accommodating, so we try and remain under the radar.
As for eΒay being any kind of help... you can forget that! _________________ Andy.

I also banned the buyers... some of whom were actually members here! And people wonder why I am protective of the site and its content?! _________________ Andy.

Good on you for banning the type of scroats that would do this to guys who give their time and knowledge to the forum members. I know that 99% of people using this site are honest down to earth people who wouldn't shaft the guys who give their all for our benefit. Don't let the 1% grind you down andy,Charles, were behind you. Daz. _________________ stink wheels forever.
I do know the Illustrator, work with it every day so I can totally appreciate the effort you put in to this. I have also dealt with evil Empire that is the Bay and PP (one and the same)
If you produced the drawings, regardless of what they are, they are yours, no one can copy or sell them. Perhaps it's not as easy to deal with eB being based in UK but here you can get through to them on the phone (email is easier) and actually get them to drop the auctions, I have seen it done, in some cases based on false allegations... Not with me, got friends who have built a million dollar business with them. I don't have much to do with it, might buy one item in a year, but in last few days I was able to source few small parts for my 1970 Yamaha 125, discontinued parts that I gave up looking for through my regular sources. Those were either NOS parts from an old dealer or quality repros, problem is that I had to sift through 10,000 listings...
It's just one of the many reasons I won't allow references and links to auction sites. People bitch and moan about my (and I think, limited) policies, but they aren't the ones having hours, weeks, months, and in some cases even years worth of effort pilfered! They're all happy to pay their fees to multi-billion Dollar corporations, yet begrudge us what I personally consider we deserve.
Anyway, enough of my rant now. Those who stick around and support us are the people I care about, and for every one we send off with their tale between their legs I can be sure there are hundreds that stick around and back us. I've even been known to be helpful, sometimes! _________________ Andy.

It's the way of the world and our government is showing the way: if you want something just take it... enough politics for now, I only wish out stupid dollar was stronger, buying stuff from UK is really cost prohibitive.

The US is cheaper but every time I get to shipping costs, I cancel the order. Almost anything is 50-100 $ shipping OR they don't want to sell to "those nasty foreigners" (not available in your area) _________________ Poul

it's not the sellers... it's the shipping providers.
US Postal Service, UPS, DHL, FedEx are all expensive for shipping outside the US boarders. I can only imagine it will get worse with the USPS's recent billion dollar operating loss, meaning they will increase their prices, which will mean other providers will follow.
it's odd that I can ship a 100lb engine around the country for about 50% more then I can send a 3.5lb manual to England for.
Yes, it changed almost over night, some time ago. I wanted a photo backpack but they wanted 95 $ shippingI
I never buy from the US anymore, as I have to pay additionally 25% VAT of the value INCLUDING shipping.
I do buy a lot of small stuff from Hongkong. They provide free shipping, so I can even keep my orders below the VAT limit here in Denmark. _________________ Poul
