MC 21 Engine sputters when put in gear

Fri Nov 23, 2012 4:18 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I have an MC 21 that when at idol runs great, but as soon as I put in in gear it start to sputter and will not run.

I am fairly confident it is not the kick stand switch.

I am thinking it is the neutral switch. It lights up green when in neutral and goes off when placed in gear, but sputters immediately.

Maybe linked to the gear switch indicator.

I could use some expertise on this one.

Thanks

Disconnect the gear position sensor and try it.

Has the bike been de-restricted. A de-restricted MC21 can run without the gear position sensor connected at all so will prove a point/fault.

Silly question time:
Is the TPS connected and giving a good signal?
Your coils and leads are ok?
Battery is good?

I disconnected the gear sensor and it does the same thing.

Well you know its nothing to do with the GPS/Neutral switch then.

Sorry for going super simple on this, but it has to be asked.
Perhaps the clutch adjustment is such that it is not fully disengaging when the clutch lever is pulled in?

Just had to get that one out of the way Smile

Heya

I love these games, first question i'd ask is does it splutter on both cylinders or just one?
If you can work that out, it might narrow down the posibilitys.

Cheers
