Woodruffkey for rs coils

Mon Jul 22, 2013 7:44 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

HI!

What kind of Woodruffkey do I need to get the right timing with rs250 coils on my MC21?

1,2,3 or 4 degrees retarded or forwarded?

Thanks!

Changing the ignition coils do not alter the ignition timing.

Okey, somewhere I read that the timing needed adjustment with stronger coils and spark. Guess that it was bullshit.

When do one need to change the timing? Different fuel?

You may be able to get some gains playing with the ignition timing with better coils but which way will depend on the fuel used and the state of the engine.

I wouldn't for arguments sake say, just because you have RS coils you need 1deg advance for example.

Okey,

Well exept for the rs coil I have full race exhaustsystem, HRC jetting, HRC ignitionbox, open airbox with some HRC filter, short plugs
A combination of "R" cylinders with "SP" rear heads for some increase in compression.

On top of this I do not know how the increase of ethanol in the pumpfuels affect the performance and reliability of the bike.

Does this combination make any difference for the sake of ignition timing?

Best thing to do would be get it down to a dyno and get some base settings to work from.
