The NSR500V would spank that, in a fair fight (i.e. with equal riders)... and there's nothing wrong with modern treaded tyres on the 500Vs! _________________ Andy.

Agreed. You can have all the power in the world, but if you can't get it on the ground, it's wasted. What were they, 160-170bhp? The 500V had "only" 130-140 but weighed around the the same as the 250 and handled. No competition. _________________ If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.

You'd only want slicks on that if you could keep the heat in them, doubt us mere mortals could do that, on that machine anyway! _________________ Proud Father of , 05 ktm 400exc supermoto 2018 honda crf rx supermoto

You keep heat in them by carrying speed into corners. It's opening the throttle off the apex where the trouble starts. The tyres on the bike are almost slicks anyway.
Treaded tyres are nothing to worry about. Much easier to keep the heat in them and they move about more than a slick, or rather they start to move around at a lower speed. I'd rather crash slow than fast... I used Dunlop inters all last year without a problem. But then I've only got half the power of this thing.. Watching some of the guys at the track day, some of the lads on inters were pretty handy...
Must admit that when I first looked at it, I thought it was an RS500. You would think the extra carb, cylinder, exhaust and HT lead would have provided a clue _________________ If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
