Best aftermarket fairings

Sun Oct 12, 2014 11:18 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Fellow members,
Looking to put my original bodywork in storage. Wondering if there is any particular aftermarket seller that provides best stuff. I suspect this topic is covered elsewhere, but already spent time searching and didn't find much.

Looking for stuff to match my original mc28 Rothmans SP .

Thanks,
Eric

No problem, but I've tried dealing with various sellers for the mutual benefit of both them and the forum, and none of them will support us, so I refuse to give them advertising space.

I bought a set of fairings for my MC21 directly from Bike Fairings in AU. Price was not the cheapest, but the quality was decent (and their reviews were much better then others).

Fitment was good. Much better then the stuff I bought a couple three years ago for my wifes CBR600RR. Also the ABS plastic is much stronger/less fragile then the stuff I bought for the CBR600rr. Can't remember who I bought from for that as well as I hear the ABC plastic is better now then it was a couple years back.

Packaging was decent. each panel was wrapped individually and additional packing materials were aded to keep things from shifting. Had no damage during shipping. Came with a tinted windscreen as well as sheets of insulated foil to put inside the lower fairing to help reduce damage from the exhaust.

I did have to "clean up" some of the mounting holes due to the injection molding having some spare plastic. Nothing a small razor knife won't help with (or a stepped drill bit for round ones).

Paint is not showroom perfect, but it's also pretty inexpensive solution. Oh and I think their prices included shipping. I did get the set with the tank skin as my tank needed to be painted and I figured I would give this a try. again, could be better, but hey it works and the paint matched the rest of the body work.

Mellopr,

I recommend people do their own investigation and make their own decisions on who they do business with. Since I only have a single set of body work from them and I am happy with what I got for the price, I still can't "recommend" them. All it takes is one person to get not what they are expecting and people start bitching about NSR250.net/NSR-WORLD "supporting" vendors that provide bad products and poor service.

There are plenty of fairing companies out there. Some I am sure are better then others, some provide different parts (as in the tank cover or wind screen, etc..) and some may have better communications than other. Check out where those companies sell, check their reviews, contact the sellers/vendors directly and ask questions (meaning don't just buy directly from the auction site without actually asking the seller your questions and getting clarification on their production and shipping process).

Aftermarket Fairings

Mon Oct 20, 2014 4:38 pm » Post: #9 » Download Post

For what its worth, I used Bike Fairings AU for a Rothmans set for my 28SP.
As Charles said, fit pretty good, bit of cleaning around the holes, paint quality very good considering the price. very good for the money. One panel had been cracked, poss caused through transportation or packing, they sent a replacement instantly. Outstanding service.
You do have to take the odd chance, as I did, and for me it was a success. I'd certainly use them again.

Individuals will always hear what they want to hear. However, I am saying I have used a company and what I got from them. It is neither an endorsement or a complaint. Just information about their product and service.

people need to accept that no two transactions are going to be the same and expectations are rarely aligned.

Basically if you do business with a company that I have done business with, you need to accept full responsibility for your decision to do business with that company.

The Forums have supporting vendors because the people who run the forums (Andy and I) have done business with those companies on numerous occasions as well as have had personal (and not personal) acquaintances do business with them with positive outcomes. We feel that those business represent our names in a manner we are comfortable with and in return support their business.

Andy has tried to work with fairing suppliers with very little response from them. Andy and I talked about those suppliers when I went to get my set of body work. From my own investigations, I went with a different supplier. The end result is I took responsibility for my decision and set my expectations properly.

Hell, it's cheap aftermarket body work being made in large quantities and being custom painted. This isn't the $2500 paint job I had done on the custom chopper I built ten+ years ago! It's slapped together and done quickly. Accept that it's not factory finish and be happy you have an option. TYGA had stopped doing paint work for a period due to bitchy customers complaining it wasn't 100% perfect to their liking. You want perfect? Go get raw fairings, work with a local painter and spend some real $$.

Interesting responses. I contacted a vendor and had a very positive email exchange with him. He sent me some additional photos. We struck a deal for a complete set of street bodywork plus a windscreen. On top of that he is giving me a matching race front fairing and windscreen. Overall the price seemed fair. Shipping was pricey, but not much you can do when its coming from around the world.

I'll report back when everything is delivered with info on overall quality.
